a quick reminder: as already announced via email and social media channels, tomorrow on March 19 at 6PM CET, we’re giving a glimpse on the upcoming new NUENDO 15 major release.
OK really nice updates shown in this condensed view. I think more nice additions will be in N15 and I’m curious to see what they will be.
I think the split multichannel files is a great step up, but was really hoping to have more flexible options. For example to drag multi-mono files to a stereo track, instead of creating more files. I work with long high samplerate files and it adds up if you have to split and recombine for specific mic setups. My field recorder has 6 inputs, so 3 stereo pairs or 2 pairs and 2 mono or 2x LCR. I would have to do all this splitting and recombining just to create these tracks in Nuendo. To be clear, in PT and Reaper this is not necessary at all. Reaper is the king on that part, but even PT allows to drag multiple mono files to a surround track (as long as you have the right channel count).
This is a very specific issue I have with Nuendo but I’m hoping others need this too.
other than that: I love the new features and welcome them all. I hope automation will get more than shown, since there have been a lot of reported workflow issues.
And what about immersive audio? Ambisonics 5th or 7th order? What about changing channel widths afterwards? What about new immersive formats? What about multi-mono plugins? I really hope Nuendo doesn’t let this ship go and force us to move to the competitors…
I was hoping so much on this update, to make Nuendo the ultimate immersive tool…
I’m pretty happy with this update, as I mentioned in another thread on the topic. Other than missing the LONG OVERDUE click-and-drag ripple editing feature, it’s a solid update for me.
I didn’t see a search box in the ADR tags screen yet (maybe it’s there???) to search through the dialog transcription tags, etc… so that’s another missing thing from my wishlist. Seems like a no-brainer feature to add, perhaps for Nuendo 16?
But very happy to see the group/folder thingy, among several other new features. It looks good. I am wondering what is going to happen to Cubase/Nuendo interoperability though as that seems like a biggie with the group/folder feature. I fully expect Cubase users will eventually get it, but what will happen in the meantime going back and forth between Cubase/Nuendo with those group folders? I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
Anyway, thumbs up for me, will be on board right away. Congrats to the Steinberg team!
Yes, if I am understanding this correctly, needing to render new files for the new combine and split functionality seems to do nothing to save our drive space. Such a shame they missed the opportunity to improve this.
Okay. Wow. Now I feel like an idiot! Thank you! I NEVER noticed that before, and I don’t know how I missed it.
In my defense, the way they implemented it is not very intuitive IMO, and it would be nice if the search box was integrated right into the main markers/ADR window and would cause instant filtering across all fields, with zero extra clicks. This method requires several more clicks. BUT, this DOES indeed work, and it now makes sense – DUH! – and it’s been hiding right under my nose! And I could have been saving a bunch of time if I knew about it before! Wow! Thank you again! Cheers!
Agreed, like @klfnk2020 I would have wanted/expected drag-and-drop onto adjacent tracks (or with a new track created) and without any necessary conversion. Just like PT does it.
Still so many GUI-issues (e.g. the misleading, visually separated panels for fader and meter of a mixer track). And AFAICS: No Project Browser, no multi mono plug-ins, no fine-grained Project data import. … sigh …
