I got a new Macbook Pro last week, and for various reasons it was important for me not to use Migration Assistant. I’ve managed to get Dorico set up successfully, but I’m finding myself missing many of my old options. I’ve tried to dig them up, but I don’t remember half of them, and every other tweak I realize I missed a change in the defaults.
I still have the old Mac, and I’d love to just transfer the options, but I have no idea where they’re stored. Can anyone lend a hand?
I’m reviving this topic because I just bought a new Mac and would like to set up Dorico 5.1.8.1 on it with exactly the same configuration as on my old machine. I’d like to confirm that all that I need to do is “copy the file userlibrary.xml from /Users/your-username/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 3 to the corresponding location on your other computer.” Are there other files or folders I should be copying — eg, key commands, the script plug-ins folder, the endpoint configurations folder, etc?
What about the other files in the Steinberg folder within /Users/your-username/Library/Application Support/Steinberg? Shouldn’t I just copy the entire Steinberg folder? If so, are there other folders or files elsewhere I should copy (including preferences, etc)?
Yes, the whole folder has other data like Playback Templates, Scripts, default options, etc, etc.
If you use Apple’s Migration Assistant, then that will bring everything that you need across.
However, note that the preferences.xml file contains file paths, and if these are not correct, it may cause problems. (E.g. if they refer to user accounts with different names from your new Mac.)
