OS X: Cubase 7.0.4 performance improvement switch

I do not know if it was planned, but this method does not work in my Cubase Artist 7. The use of CPU is excessive and peaks are still there. It is completely impossible to work this way on my iMac. For now I will continue working with Reaper to my dismay. Please FIX it.

3,1 GHz i5
12 GB 1333 DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6970 1024 MB
Lion 10.7.5

still got drop outs and spikes when using prologue changing presets and when i start playing the prologue with my keyboard after changing the presets

this also happens with groove agent one when changing presets and other vst synths like pad shop and retrologue ext

shut asio guard not prevent audio drop outs when using vst instruments

i wonder how pc performance is when it comes to drop outs and cpu spikes bud if the don’t have this problem
there probably launching there ass af thinking silly apple user

bud its nice to now that steinberg is working on it hope the fix it

using : 10.8.3 i7 2.8 ghz 12 gb 1 tb 7200 rpm late 2009 model

seems to be running a lot smoother now on my system. The spikes were making cubase almost unusable on my iMac, and I had to go to my windows machine, but this switch has made a drastic improvement :slight_smile: thanks steinberg!

I never had these spikes cause I never used Padshop and Prologue at all, nor with virtual keyboard; I tried this as Marcus82 said and yes, there are peaks…

A lot in 32 bits, a bit less at 64, regardless of the buffer size, Asioguard or not, but ONLY with Steinberg vsti: I tried Native’s Komplete, Korgs, Sonic Charge, Sylenth, etc. no spikes at all with the same virtual key…

I had spikes with Groove Agent and Retrologue in 32 bits mode, but any in 64, a lot with Halion Sonic in both mode… and did not try others Steinberg’s Vsti.

I will try the same with an external keyboard, but I used Halion Sonic and GA One in live some time and never figured out that.

Sorry for my poor Frenglish…

It had nothing to do with what VSTis or plugins were loaded. There were certain chipsets that appear to have the issue. The spikes would happen if you were simply playing a blank project and have the metronome on.

Since the patch/fix it runs clean now. I was able to finally delete 6.5 from my computer. :slight_smile:

really like some feedback from steinberg on the progress on the performance issue
reading these post you can see that for some are happy with the progress steinberg is making and some that give the impression that there are still problems with one of them being me
i really really do hope steinberg resolve this performance issue

You should learn making sentences. And get a signature. Gives a more credible impression.

The performance improvement is now part of Cubase 7.0.5. Therefore manual switching on is not necessary anymore.

Best regards,
Helge

Thanks H,
I was just about to ask.

Thanks for the feedback H.

So what for the rest of us still having the issue? (On 7.0.5 aswell…)

@Helge

Should that file now be removed from the
Cubase 7 ‘Preference Folder’?

TIA

Cubase still requires a very high buffer setting that makes using VIs less then pleasant. CS.
