I am engraving a new method book and want to add exercise numbers to the left of the staff (where instrument names are placed in a score). I thought the staff label paragraph style might do it, but it only places them above the staff. I don’t see where I can specify x and y coordinates when creating a new paragraph style. Is there a way to do this, or do I need to do it in the properties panel for each label? Thanks!
You can’t specify positions for paragraph styles, I’m afraid.
There have been discussions on achieving the result you’re after before, though – here’s the one I’d probably recommend first:
I will try that approach. I may also try programming a script to to offset a new paragraph style for right-aligned text at the start of a system. That might be easier??
If you don’t need actual rehearsal letters in the project, and you’re using a single staff, it’s pretty easy to just set the rehearsal letters to be numbers and automatically positioned there. I posted a walkthrough here.
Yes. Most of these are for single staff, but there are a few on grand staff examples, too. I’m going to go through the steps pianoleo describes. It will help me learn more about the software. Thank you all for the feedback!!
