Since the launch of CB 13 and in subsequent updates, my projects are going into a perpetual hang during opening. I am required to ‘Force Quit’ and open again. It always opens on the second try.
One possible explanation is that communication between CB and the converter (or converter software) fails when the CB project requires a change of sample rate.
Is anyone else experiencing this or something similar?
Cubase 13.20
Lynx Aurora (n) driver v. 1.0 build 62
Aurora Mixer software - NControl v. 1.0.8
Have you tried waiting a bit longer? I’ve found 13 hangs on the first open. It almost seems like it did a poof/crash but after 30sec it pops up.
And then every subsequent session open is as quick as expected.
Thanks! I feel like I have, especially early on. Additionally, when I do navigate to ‘Force Quit’ it has the red warning that Cubase is not responding.
This sounds similar though and I’ll give it a try.
Same for me : Cubase 13.0.21 hangs when loading a project after a first launch. Force quit then loading the project again works. @Armand can I send you the related freeze DMP or should I put it here ?
I have them as well (N12) but it was nearly always related to the AV, which was Microsoft Defender but which is now Comodo.
Alot goes on, opening a project but when the AV kicks in for whatever reason, or else the defragmenter starts up, sometimes Nuendo just conks out because disk activity is limited, that is well known.
I have considered getting a faster disk drive than my current SSHD but I think it’s more to do with the fact that my previous AV was very limited in its’ knowledge of the DAW’ activities.
Thanks @Armand . From with in Console (macOS) I show no Crash or Spin reports. The system message “Reading Project File” with an ‘Abort’ button is still showing and have a spinning dial that’s been going for over 2hours. Is there another location where I can find the IPS file?
I got the same issue : Cubase 13.0.21 hangs indefinitely when loading a project. It then normally when launching Cubase a second time after a force quit.
Here is a dmp file and a screen capture (I never had two loading windows at the same time) :
I downloaded a full trial version of Cubase 13 Pro. It immediately freeze, but it doesn’t matter of how many times I open it and sometimes I can just have enough times to see that my Studio setup settings and audio settings are good and then it freeze. In Cubase 12.0.70 my projects opens up without problems. I just see that Cubase 13 is not a finished product and should have never been released. Especially when it comes to the new terrible look of the interface. I will just stick with Cubase 12 for a very long long time. There are some new features that I would like to have from Cubase 13, like the new midi editor and the vocal chain. But it’s not worth it.
Generate a DMP file and share it via Dropbox or a similar service, please.
Use the Microsoft ProcDump utility to generate a DMP file, please.
Please download ProcDump64 from Microsoft (~650kB) and extract the archive to a local folder on your hard disk.
Run Command Prompt (cmd) as administrator (right click and select “run as administrator”)
Navigate (in the Command Prompt) to the folder with the extracted procdump file.
For example:
cd C:\ Users \ \ Downloads \ Procdump
Note: the dmp file will be written into that folder.
Launch Cubase/Nuendo. You can work as usual. At any time, change to the command prompt and start procdump, to monitor Cubase/Nuendo for unexpected behaviour (see next step).
The -h option will write a dmp file in case of an application hang. This might kick in too early sometimes, in case some action takes a little longer. Feel free to skip the “-h” option, if you are only up for fetching crashes.
The option -e will catch exceptions and the option -t terminations of the application.
Prodump is now monitoring the Cubase/Nuendo process and will write a crash log, in case Cubase/Nuendo crashes or hangs. Perform the action that causes Cubase/Nuendo to crash and send us the generated crash dmp.
ZIP and share the DMP file via Dropbox or a similar service, please.
