Plugins stuck in Generic view -- and no "Switch to Plugin Editor" menu item

I’ll do that (a bit later) but it’s been set to 125% since I get the machine and it hasn’t previously affected Cubase.

Hi, I replicated the problem by renaming the file AudioPlugs.srf inside the C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 12\VST3\Cubase Plug-in Set.vst3\Contents\Resources folder , i.e. making it “invisible” to Cubase.

Now, if this file exists there, it may be corrupted, and if it doesn’t, this is the expected behaviour (no plugin editor switch menuItem).

In either case, you probably have to get a fresh copy of this file from a friend. I would post it here, but it’s around 100mb. Note that simply re-installing Cubase won’t help, since I’ve tried that and it’s not regenerating the missing file.

And here’s a link of a similar thread which led me to these observations: Stock VST Plugins suddenly showing only generic GUI. Cant switch back - #4 by Withamation

Thanks, I’ll check it out! That looks like a very positive suggestion. I’ll get hold of a copy of that file in the next few days and give it a try. Thank you for your helpall Forum members!

Will post result, as it seems it’s not a very common problem.

Good catch!
But regarding re-install: maybe that doesn’t help, but a complete uninstall of C12, followed by a fresh install (and making sure the VST3\ Folder is really empty beforehand) should do the trick, shouldn’t it?

Hi, I think so, yes. However the OP noticed:

This is way I suggested finding a copy of the original file

Like from a backup maybe :upside_down_face:

Thank you @Johnny_Moneto !

im having this same problem, i dont understand how yall fixed it, can anyone shed some light on this? :heartbeat:

Yes, m.c. shed some light on the file that causes the problem:

You might be succesfully repairing it by manually deleting it and then doing a reinstall of Cubase.

Sorry if this is repetitive, but i should delete the audioplugs.srf file? Then uninstall and reinstall cubase?

Thank you

That is what I would try.
