Pops and Clicks with just 1 or 2 VSTi tracks. NI Komplete 13 + M2 Pro MacBook Pro 32GB Ram

Hi, let me preface this by saying that I am new to Cubase. I’m currently running the demo version of version 12 Pro.

I have been consistently experiencing pops and clicks (and peak overloads / red light in the audio performance monitor) when using just 1 or 2 tracks in Cubase Pro 12. My computer is an M2 Pro MacBook Pro with 32GB ram. In Cubase, I have ASIO Guard on high.

I am most often experiencing this when using some of the heftier instruments in NI Komplete 13 Collectors Edition (Guarneri Violin, Indie, Symphony Series, etc). Komplete content is installed on an attached SSD, and I have Multiprocessor support enabled in Kontakt (turning that setting off made the issue worse)

My interface is a UAD Apollo X8. My buffer in Cubase is set to 64 for live playing. I realize that is aggressive, however I thought a super powerful machine like the M2 Pro MBP would be able to handle at least a few tracks at a super low buffer. FWIW, I have also experienced this at 128. Additionally, I have NOT experienced this issue in Ableton or Logic Pro. at either 64 or 128.

I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas what’s going on and how I might try to fix this? Thanks

Not sure, it’s trial and error.
Changing the buffer size on Kontakt has any impact?
I know that after loading an instrument on Kontakt your disks out of the game and it is loaded in RAM, so no SSD problem here. That if DFD is not selected (little wrench icon on top left of kontakt instrument). If it is try changing this to “sampler”.

I 've seen this topic recently. Maybe you can try disabling the ASIO Guard just for Kontakt in “VST Plug-in Manager” and see what happens.
