PreSonus FaderPort 2 (2018) midi remote script

Hello Heiko, thanks for this hint.
However, during intensive testing I found that even the script version from January 31, 2024 with Cubase 13.0.50 does not always run correctly here. For example, if I create 20 audio tracks and switch back and forth between all tracks with the encoder several times in the Channel Mode, there are sometimes hangs between two tracks. But: The errors that occurred with Cubase 13.0.50 are not as frequent with the script version dated 31.1.2024 as with the later versions.

Thanks, Carlo.

Yes, LluĆs, I think we should all do that too, as there is a workaround for the biggest problem with Cubase 13.0.41.

Hi,

Could you be more specific, please?

Iā€™m sorry but I cannot do more tests because I rolled back (Nuendo).
With Faderport, I toggle the shift key and then the fader should get the value of the knob under mouse. With 13.0.50 the fader sometimes reads the value under mouse, sometimes not.

Edit:
I reinstalled 13.0.50 and recorded what is happening.
With 13.0.41 when I move the mouse over any knob the fader gets the value and I can set it.
With 13.0.50 the fader do not get the value of the knob but I can set it, but starting from a wrong value.

Hi butterfly,

When I installed 13.0.41 at the beginning of June 2024, this file was downloaded to my system:
Cubase_13.0.41_Installer_win64.zip.
I had made a backup of this file, which only means that I had copied this file into a backup folder.

I installed 13.0.50 normally with the Steinberg Download Manager.

To switch back to 13.0.41, I opened the backuped file Cubase_13.0.41_Installer_win64.zip
and opened there in the zip-file the file Setup.exe directly.
I was then able to perform a re-install of 13.0.41 without problems.

Notes: I work with Windows.
In case you have not made a backup of the zip-file of 13.0.41: I donā€™t know where to find the zip-file of 13.0.41 on the Steinberg website. I did a quick search and did not find it there.

Best regards
CKB

Hi,

Really? If this is the case, then there is a bug. Windows shouldnā€™t allow you to install an older application version over a newer one.

Thanks LluĆs for your detailed report and the video.

I can replicate this MIDI Remote error with 13.0.50 exactly the same way here (with Cubase).
While the other MIDI Remote errors mentioned here were sporadic, this other MIDI Remote error is more serious as it is a permanent error. But permanent also means that Steinberg has a better chance to find it.

Best regards

Yes, it works here without errors and without hints.
This way I can easily switch back and forth between 13.0.50 and 13.0.41.
Actually ok, because this makes it easy to troubleshoot 13.0.50.

Hi,

Iā€™m not Windows userā€¦ On Mac you can rename the application (I use the version and build number) and then install another instance of the application. So I can have 13.0.41, 13.0.50 Cubase applications side by side. Is this possible on Windows?

In Windows you could only rename the folder where the application (13.0.41) is. Then another installation (13.0.50) will normally be created physically. You would then start the various installations by clicking directly on the Cubase13.exe file in the various folders. I would have to try out whether this works. But in the worst case, this could cause a serious license problem, so Iā€™d rather not try this on a sunday morning.

Is it possible to make the 13.0.41 version for Mac available for download?

Lately Steinberg often releases unsolid maintenance updates. Revision 1 always ends up coming out a few weeks later.
13.0.40 ā†’ 13.0.41
13.0.50 ā†’ Iā€™ll wait for 51 to come out

Iā€™ve gotten into the habit, like @CKB , of keeping previous releases to be able to roll back.
I consider Nuendo my best DAW, but please Steinberg be careful with updates.

Regards,
LluĆs

Yes, maybe you might also notice something strange in your scripts that could be related to the new changes of MIDI Remote within Cubase 13.0.50.

I did connect yesterday some of them in order to see anything unusual. I didnā€™t notice anything unfortunately. I hope that other users more extensively using these controllers (I for now am using a synth rather than a controller, itā€™s also scripted but nothing fancy) may come up with something helpful.

Yes, I think it would be good if that were done quickly.

Hi Martin,

LluĆs has explained one MIDI Remote problem of 13.0.50 very well with his video in his post:

Can you tell us whether this has already been classified as an actual error at Steinberg?

Or are the priorities there currently elsewhere, possibly because all resources are currently tied up?
Sometimes itā€™s nice just to know what the situation is like.

The 13.0.50 update has totally broken the Faderport remote script. The EQ page and PreGain Page doesnā€™t work at all. The Send page has the same erratic behaviour as the track page and Global Scroll Track. When I am on the Pan page and press click, the pan page gets disabled. If someone could share the 13.0.41 version for mac, I would be very grateful.

Hi heggebugg,

maybe it would help if you also open a Steinberg Support Ticket and point out that you can no longer work since the update to Cubase 13.0.50. I have heard that sometimes Steinberg reacts very quickly to a Support Ticket: Self-Service

And maybe at Steinberg theyā€™re so busy (Cubase 14 ?) that they havenā€™t had time to add a 13.0.41 download option to their website, but I think itā€™s possible that they could send you an unofficial link to the 13.0.41-mac-setup-zip via the answer to your Support Ticket.

Note: Corona is going around again in Hamburg, so there are staff shortages everywhere at the moment.

Good luck
CKB
