Recommended absolute beginner video tutorials for WaveLab 12?

The last Wavelab program I purchased was WaveLab 6. in which I am very proficient. Since this is not compatible with Windows 11, I bought WaveLab 12. I have no idea how to use this and the videos that I have watched seem only to tout all the new features, and the docents click around a mile a minute and never explain why they do this. They assume, I suppose, that the viewer is familiar with the basic functions of the program. I am not. I tried to playback an audio track that I was able to open with Audio Editor, but the instructions in the Operating Manual said to open the Transport Bar which is hidden. It is hidden well because I could not find it. Therefore, I could not play the file.
Can someone out there suggest a few links for absolute beginners with no idea how to make even elementary procedures with such a complex program? I would be much obliged. I just want to do simple editing: cleaning up files, using equalization to improve audio files, putting together multiple files to burn a CD, and other simple operations. Not interested in color changes, spectroscopic analyses, interpolating other sounds, etc. Capisce?

This is not an answer to your video question ā€¦ but if you are coming from WL 6 perhaps the first thing to do is to customize the workspace so that it closely resembles what you are coming from. This is pretty intuitive from the Workspace Tool and meter menus. One of the strengths of 12 is that it is so easy to customize.

Once you have done that to your satisfaction, save the workspace as default (workspace menu).

You should now be able to start in a reasonably familiar landscape.

The core stuff that you can do in 6 you can also do in 12. Itā€™s just thereā€™s so much ā€˜moreā€™ on offer that make life easier.

Best of luck with the transition ā€¦ it will be worthwhile.

True, but I post the video reading about why he upgraded, and your response was the best to encourage the user.

Why is there distracting music in the background? What is the use of this music in an explanatory video? Is this supposed to be hip or trendy or what? Itā€™s just annoying like an open-plan office. Who thinks, this is ā€œgreatā€? Use Spectral Layers to get rid of the music and remix the video  .

Thx a lot!

You express my concerns also. I too want to edit concert recordings that I make.
I am wanting to transition from Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Audacity. But, like you, I find the videos of little help, and the official manual uses many words, but says little to me as a beginner to WaveLab.
For a start, I canā€™t find how to:

  • Delete a track
  • Add tracks to Audio Montage
  • How to start using Audio Montage with parameters that differ from the templates shown.

Hi!

in the WL manual search on for example ā€œTrack Pop-up Menuā€

https://www.steinberg.help/search/documents?filters=product_names_smtg~%2522WaveLab%257CWaveLab+Pro%2522*version_numbers_smtg~%252212.0%2522&virtual-field=title_only&content-lang=en-US

and of course ask in here about WaveLab in generalā€¦

Thanks for your suggestion.
I find the manual of little use. It lists things, and says what things do (with many cross-references that are often circular) but IT SELDOM (if ever) SAYS HOW TO DO things.

Perhaps you could try some of the commercial video tutorials? WL12 is not so different from WL11 and even WL10 as far as getting started is concerned. These have free sample videos, so you could decide whether the style suits your learning method:

Hi prman,

Iā€™m no beginner at all ( mastered a lot with Cubase)ā€¦ just in wavelab.
So here are three tutorials that helped me pretty much.
