Remove a slash notation region

I created a slash notation region, and now realize I need to do it differently. I want to completely remove the slash notation region and return it to the whole rests that were there before I created it so I can redo the whole thing. Do I need to just delete the whole player and re-add it? There are at least 6 ways to create a slash notation region, but I have not found any way to remove it. Any clues?

Selected it, it should highlight and allow you to change it’s size with alt/arrows or simply hit delete key

Thanks. I tried delete, perhaps I didn’t have it selected properly.
I just deleted the player, and created a new one.
I’m coming from Finale v27 - after 3 days of ā€œhuh?ā€ I’m finally making headway, but still some basic concepts I’m trying to learn. I think I will really like it.

Keep at it. This forum is really great with lots of helpful people and dev team checking in.

I find I can select a slash region by clicking either in a bar off the slashes, which selects the whole bar, or on a slash, to get just that slash. Either way I’m able to delete it with Backspace or (forward) Delete. When you see the little round handles at the start and end, that indicates you have the region (and only it) selected.

Thanks. That worked - don’t know what I did the first time.

@jim6, you should mark the Solution of this thread in @Mark_Johnsonā€˜s post.

I did, thanks

Hello - I’m in a similar boat with slash regions. I can’t quite figure it out…I created a bunch of slash regions - and now I find I’d like to return one bar (every 8 bars or so) into a bar of regular notation…is there not a ā€œmake bar standard notationā€ kind of option? Thanks for any help you can give this OLD Finale user…

Select a slash immediately to the right of where you want the split and press U. This will split the slash region at that point.

You would need to do this on the first slash of the bar you want normal, as well as the first slash of the next bar.

After this you should be able to select and delete the one bar of slashes.

Depending how much music there is, it may be easier to do this for one slash region, delete the other (larger) slash regions, and then copy/paste the 7-bar region where it’s needed.

Thank you so much! I’m slowlyyyyyy trying to learn some new things!.

And a great copy/paste trick:

Just select the ā€œthingā€ you want copied and simply Alt/Opt+click where you want it copied to: no need for the actually copy/paste commands.

Thanks again!!

Maybe you can help me with yet another thing I’m having trouble with…it seems that sometimes when I double click the keypad quickly to, say, get a dotted quarter - it works. But then often times it will not and just creates two quarter notes. I thought maybe it was having to do with the dotted quarter being tied to the previous eighth - but i’m not sure. Is there a common reason why double clicking the desired number quickly doesn’t create a dotted note? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Are you using pitch-before-duration note entry ? Obviously, double numbering was implemented with duration before pitch in mind, I suppose…

Hi - Yes, I had spent some time with tutorials on it and was trying to replicate how I spent years in finale inputting notes. So I switched it to pitch before duration - but I guess my brain had already started to get used to the double tap method. If I leave it to pitch before duration, how do you make a dotted note? One person mentioned the period key - which I thought I had tried…but maybe I’m mistaken. Is that the best way like 6 and . for dotted quarter? I will get back to experimenting some later today. Thank you!

It depends how you set this preference…
