I can’t makeup a search that gives me anything close.
Using Playback Options (Ctl-Shift-P) under Timing/Rhythmic Feel. I can specify several levels of swing, including none. That works very well, I can almost always find a sensible notation that produces the feel I am looking for.
BUT, The piece I am working on now contains several flows. Each flow has a different tempo and feel, but I am now discovering that the “Rhythmic Feel” setting seems to apply only to the entire project. Is there a way to limit the scope to an individual flow?
If the rhythmic feel is carrying over between flows, I would reset it to what you want at the start of each flow and hide the new setting if you feel performers don’t need to see it.
You can set the rhythmic feel in Playback Options, or you can create a rhythmic feel in the score itself. You do this with the tempo popover. For example: Steinberg
Thank you, the Playback does really seem to respond to the Style Instructions I have with the Tempo Marking when I use terms like Medium Swing and Heavy Funk and Fast Gospel. But I am still confused that when I go to Playback Options/Timing with the cursor in a particular Flow, that I still only see the setting for Default Rhythmic Feel that I set at the beginning of the Composition. However what I am hearing back seems to be correct based on my Tempo/Style instruction at the beginning of each flow.
What you see in Playback Options is simply the default rhythmic flow (in the absence of any other instructions). If there are any rhythmic feel markings in the score then these will override what’s in Options.
