Isnt their new CEO looking for a buyer for this company? Why doesn’t Steinberg and Yamaha step forward take it over and fix the software drop the samplitude, and the basic music maker then make all of the VSTs available to buy. The VSTIs that come with music maker are quite good but you can’t import them into any other DAW. Get rid of the Photo/video arm as a going concern.

i didnt mean get rid of it toally just sell off the other bits of the company that are not their core business. The programs etc then go to the new buyer to fix and sell.
OK i am a bit late to the party. So it looks Magix will now continue with the music business only under new ownership? I must admit i looked up on the press releases and it seems this new company will focus on online sales only. I just hope that they listen and FIX Independence. They must have heard what i was thinking all along!

I took a look at the BorisFX website and was surprised to see Samplitude and Sequoia there - something’s definitely up.
Vegas is a great program and has a wonderful UI - it is much easier to learn than something like Premiere. I’ve been with Vegas since forever, but it always seems to be the “Rodney Dangerfield” of video editors - it never gets the respect it really deserves. It remains to be seen where things will go with BorisFX at the helm, but then we’ve been here before. This ain’t our first rodeo.
A big price increase, if you ask me. I used to get a BorisFX monthly sub, but the last payment was up by around 75%. I cancelled. Hey ho.

I read the Vegas forum a bit too quickly and missed the bit about possible “Vegas Pro 2026” being referenced deep inside BorisFX’s website. That explains why it’s not in the storefront. I suspect this means a big hairy rebranding effort. It’ll still be called Vegas as always, but maybe something like “BorisFX Vegas 2026” (fanfare) in the manner that Sony once did. Nothing to do now but wait and see.
I stayed on Vegas Pro 21 because of the uncertainty around it’s future … luckily it does everything I need it to, but what happens now if I ever need to reactivate it? This is the second product I use that has been sold off to a company I don’t want to get involved with (the other being Affinity, bought by Canva). More enshittification.
I’m seriously thinking about dumping my Adobe subscription - honestly I don’t use it enough to economically justify it. I love photoshop, Illustrator even more, Acrobat can be useful, and I still use old LightRoom Classic for photography. Never cared for Premiere, though. Might have to learn Gimp for illustrations..

Times being what they are, some companies just want to run a toll booth so they can rake in easy, no-effort dollars and have largely forgotten what got them to where they are currently. That’s usually the beginning of the end of an empire - though empires do take a long time to die. Look at Avid - they have a stranglehold on brick-and-mortar studios - but outside that market and few professional situations - there are better options. Their products have always been behind the curve.

This might not appear to be immediately relevant in a Steinberg forum, but at one point I would have hoped to see Yamaha/Steinberg jump in to complete the Cubendo portfolio with a competent video editor (while at the same time absorbing a competing product – Sound Forge).
I like Vegas because of its DAW-like editing and (oddly enough) it’s AAF works well enough into Cubendo.
There’s some interesting pricing:
Vegas Pro (including Continuum, SoundForge, CrumplePop, and Mocha!): £150 (+VAT)
Continuum (by itself): £250 (+VAT)
That £100 difference = bought!

Optics, which the buy product page lists as part of the sub, shows a message that says it expires in 3 days…

But the UK prices are still £150 for VEGAS, sorry, Vegas &tc, and £250 for just Continuum.
We’ll see what the sub costs in March next year.
Vegas 2026 looks much the same as VEGAS 23. I’ll test it (with my limited projects - I just make gaming videos!) and see how it behaves.
I just tried using Continuum in VEGAS 21 (my usual version, even though I have 22 and 23) and it shows up in the lists but adding any FX to a clip results in a nice big red X and a “Buy now to use” window. Oh well.
To preserve upgrade eligibility for any former MAGIX products such as Vegas, ACID, Sound Forge etc., you can now register on the Boris FX website with the same email address you used on the MAGIX site for the original purchase, then, according to the FAQ, your serials/registrations will be transferred in the coming weeks, and appear under your Boris FX account.

Yeah, received an email today telling me that Boris now owned Vegas Pro. As it happens I ditched Vgeas a couple of years back in favour of the free version of DaVinci Resolve.
I failed that intelligence test. Miserably. The GUI seems to defy every interface convention. I suppose, so that it works with the hardware the company sells.
