When both Audiowarp and Slice Playback are enabled in the Sampler Track, Audiowarp has no effect on the audio until Sync is toggled on and off. Furthermore, when the project is reloaded, the sample reverts to its original speed until Audiowarp is toggled off and on.
The initial behaviour seems dependent on the particular audio file for some reason (e.g. anything from the “Drum Loops” library that comes with Cubase is affected, while anything from the “Analog Techno” library is not). The issue after reloading the project occurs regardless though.
Steps to reproduce:
Create a Sampler Track with an audio file (e.g. one from the “Drum Loops” library)
Enable Audiowarp
Enable Slice Playback
Adjust the Speed knob and play some notes; observe that the sample speed has not changed
Toggle Sync on and then off again, and play some notes; observe that the sample speed now has changed
Save the project and reload it
Play some keys and observe that the sample has reverted to its original speed
Toggle Audiowarp off and on and play some notes; observe that the sample is being affected by Speed again
System: Cubase 13.0.41, Windows 11, i9 13900k, RTX 4090, 64GB, ASIO4ALL v2.15 using built-in Realtek Audio
@Matthias_Quellmann Is there any possibility of this being addressed in the final Cubase 13 maintenance update you mentioned here?
An example of why this is important: if you slice a drum loop and match its tempo to the project, the next time you load the project the drums will be messed up with no indication as to why - and if you ever find out why, you’ll have to remember to toggle Audiowarp of and on every single time you load the project, for all eternity.
This presents a significant risk of losing work that’s been done with Audiowarp on less conspicuous samples, and not noticing until after the recording has been released.
This seems to be an issue with only certain WAV’s with Tempo follow enabled (eg Musical Mode), .WAV’s that are imported with the ‘musical mode’ enabled by default, as mentioned in this thread: Export an Audio Loop in Musical mode? - #5 by raino
Additionally ACIDized WAV’s also exhibit this same behavior.
I don’t have any issue with Slices or reloading the project, though, just the ‘Speed’ knob fails to initialize.
My steps are just:
1- create new Sampler Track
2- import an WAV with Tempo follow activated, (or ACIDized .WAV file) into Sampler Track
3- enable Audiowarp and adjust the speed knob
4- result is no change until the Sync is turned on and off again.
This issue is still present in C15.
Edit: note that I see different behavior when dragging from Explorer, or MediaBay. When dragging from Mediabay it seems to always fail, but not so with explorer. It seems that the ‘Sync’ is supposed to be enabled by default when it ‘works’.
Hello. I have a similar problem with Sampler Track. Not exactly the same but I think it’s in the same category.
Steps to reproduce:
Create a new empty project.
Add a Sampler Track and load any audio file (factory content or custom sample).
Open Sampler Control and go to the Filter or Amp Envelope.
Set the envelope Mode = Shaper and enable Sync Envelope.
Set Shaper Sync Mode = Tempo + Beat (confirm that Retrigger Mode becomes unavailable/greyed out, as expected in this mode).
Start playback (transport running) and trigger notes on the Sampler Track (via the on-screen keyboard or any MIDI input).
Observe: the Filter Shaper envelope still behaves like it restarts from the beginning on every new note, instead of being phase-locked to the project position.
Go to the Sampler Track Playback section and toggle SliceON, then OFF.
Trigger notes again while playback is running.
Observe: now Tempo + Beat behaves correctly — the envelope is locked to the transport/project position and no longer behaves like it is restarting from the beginning on each note.
Expected result:
With Tempo + Beat, the Shaper envelope should be phase-aligned to the project position (transport/beat) immediately, without requiring any unrelated toggle.
Actual result:
Tempo + Beat initially behaves like per-note retrigger, until Slice is toggled ON/OFF once, after which it behaves as documented.
This looks like, maybe, a Sampler Track state initialization / refresh bug?
EDIT : I’m on Windows 11, last version, and Cubase Pro 15.0.10. I tested it in Safe Mode. I wasn’t sure whether to open a new thread, but since this looks like the same underlying issue, I thought it made sense to keep it in one place. Apologies in advance if this should be split into a separate topic.
