Save on Dorico, Iconica Opus and Etude in the Scoring Essentials Sale

We’re running a special offer on Dorico Pro 6, Dorico Elements 6, Iconica Opus, and Etude from 13 May to 26 May. Check out the Dorico blog for full details:

https://www.steinberg.net/promotion/

Looking at the specifications for Opus (specifically Iconica Sections & Players) it mentions Rosetta 2. What does this actually mean? Will it be updated, or does it need to be going forward?

Also does Opus behave in a similar way to NotePerformer, where it tries to phrase (etc.) musically from the score, slurs, trills etc. in the Expression map you have updated?
What changes were made to the Expression map? I cannot find any information on this or was it just some overall tweaks?

so how do I find the coupon for the crossgrade from Dorico 6 pro. I own the full version of dorico6 the blurbs mention that it is available at a further discount using a crossgrade coupon . but where exactly do I find the coupon . or am I missing something ?

At the bottom of this page:
https://www.steinberg.net/promotion/
is a link for vouchers in your account, if it applies to you because of your previous purchase(s), did you check?

The Steinberg Download Assistant and Library Manager are both still Intel only at the moment. But the HALion VST and standalone app are Universal Binaries, so once you’ve installed, you’re not using Rosetta anymore.

Just click on the Updates & Upgrades button.

No despite steinberg giving a list of products that the cross grade is available for including Dorico 6 pro, of which i show a screen grab of “qualified products” it does not accept payment . I presume because i don’t have a coupon code.

Seems like false advertising to me .. i appreciate them offering the 1/2 discount but that is out of my reach times are tough . I need the crossgrade discount ..

this whole runaround is a waste of my time …

If you already have Dorico 6, what are you trying to buy?

yes I have full license of Dorico 6 pro trying to buy Ionica opus crossgrade. I have succeeded . the problem was for some arcane reason apple pay was not working on safari web browser on a Mac . when I tried to make the purchase using my iPad I was successful .

thanks for your assistance .. I am now downloading to my Mac ..

I wonder, if Dorico 6 uses Opus and the full version of Etude automatically, if I install them, or do they need manual treatment to make them work?

The Version History notes say:

When using the Auto playback template, Dorico will now automatically use the full Etude Grand Piano instrument if it is installed, in preference to the Etude Elements instrument included free with Dorico Pro and Dorico Elements.
In addition, if the Navia Harp Free instrument is available, Dorico will automatically use this for harp instruments in your project.

It doesn’t mention full Iconica, though.

This is exactly my question. Can i download and install Iconica Opus and then get to work, or do i need to create expression maps for the instruments?

There are already Expression Maps and Playback templates for Iconica. But that’s different from the “Auto” playback template, which is primarily a means for things to work across SE / Elements / Pro, regardless of the different libraries.

I’m not clear where (when?) to import the Iconica - Windows.vesp64 file into Dorico (or VEP).

That’s a VEP Server project file. In VEP Server: File → Open Server Project …

[disclaimer: I haven’t done it yet]
You would then presumably import the playback template, apply it.. and you’re done - although how the networking works would be a mystery.

For any who have used this option: is that something I should expect to do on each VEP project (realizing I may apply the same VEP instances to multiple Dorico files), or will once be enough?

And thank you, @derAbgang .

Hi There, I noted the sale. I own Dorico elements 5 now. However, I cannot see what i’ll gain by upgrading to v6. Is there a table out there with all the features? thank you

Here you are. These are all the changes introduced in the updates since Dorico 6, and they’re listed starting with the most recent ones (6.2, 6.1, 6, including minor intermediate updates), so you can start from the bottom if you want to see the most fundamental changes first.
