I’ll just report one issue with the score editor, but there’s a lot I don’t like about it:
16th note syncope in 6/8 shown as 2 tied 16ths, I would like that to be an eighth note. And also the staccato dot gets written on the second 16th. In 4/4 you have a choice whether you want eighth note syncopes to be written as a quarternote or as two tied eighths, but this is in 6/8.
this shows the 2 varieties of the same rhythm, I prefer the second, if the 2 sixteenths had been an eighth note.
further,
things that are just not right or very unhandy in the score editor, I’ve seen some points in other postings as well.
-
editing: the very limited capabilities of copying notes using the mouse (option-mouse) moving them to any desired staff, pitch or position. now this involves more clicks, dragging and moving, slowing down the creative process where ease of use and speed is essential.
-
selecting: when a note is selected and you then want to edit another one, you have to click the second note, release the mouse, and click on the second note again before you can edit it. otherwise you will be editing the first note, although at the end of this operation the second note will actually be selected, but not edited. a slow downer again.

select all (cmd-A) after having done select all (in a score) and clicking in empty space to release the selection, events in the tempo track remain selected even though I have ‘tempo’ turned off in score settings (tempo track is active). I suddenly see tempo markings in the info-line. possibly that is the reason why in one of my songs the tempo track shifted all the time and everything went out of sync, accidentally editing it. there have to be (at least) two tempo markings in the Tempo Track for this to happen. addendum: I just found that anything else may be selected from other tracks not in view. clicking on a note doesn’t release the selected item. if you click in empty space again the selection is wrong again. only using arrow keys seem to amend the situation.

muted notes are not greyed out but remain as black as they are, so I can’t tell them from unmuted notes. this is very awkward, the muted notes will be exported in xml without me knowing it!
-
audio feedback: nudging a note up and down (cmd-arrow) there is no audio feedback
-
automatic layouts: notes in the score editor on the same beat (like a piano chord) show the same length but it doesn’t mean they are really the same length. Cubase tidies it up for you, but now you don’t see what the actual situation is. for me as a composer it is important. Has nothing to do with the Fill Gaps option in Score Settings. Fill Gaps is a useless option: I want to make my own choices, so I leave it turned off.
-
automatic chords: there used to be an automatic ‘chord recogniser’ in the score editor, now you have to add chords manually. automatic chords are now only in the key editor. for me as a musician I like to see the sheet music, much more intuitive and comprehensible.
-
multiple chord tracks: it happens that I want to use a different chord progression for the piano and for the guitar. But this can’t be done, since there is only one chord track, everyone has to play the same. Sometimes I want to write a simplified progression for the pianoplayer.
of lesser importance (found workarounds, though not ideal)
-
bass guitar instrument in the Instrument Settings is not remembered on next opening of the song. workaround: use a contrabass from the String Instruments. has the same notation.
-
disappearing notes: notes in the score editor may suddenly disappear. workaround: switch off DQ and grace notes in instrument settings. was already wrong in C14 apperently. credits to @PaulWalmsley
-
notation settings: the order to set stuff is important. when you the set octave transpostion it messes everything up in the syncopation/accidental settings. workaround: first set the octave transpotion, than the rest.
I’m on a 2 year old Imac, Sequoia. I think this score editor has to grow a lot. Based on Dorico? This is absolutely no advertisment for Dorico. Glad to stick with Sibelius. The old cubase score editor was a lot better.
I know I should only post one problem, but there are too many, I would clutter up the forum
