Second window changes from play when I switch to write mode

I’m trying to have my Play window (specifically I want my piano roll visible) open on one screen while I do edits in write mode. When I activate the carrot, the play window on the other screen changes to write mode. How do I keep them independant? Thanks!

Delicious, carrots.
Are you sure it’s just when you activate the caret (:carrot:) or when you enter write mode?

Hi,
Yes, I’m sure. I can toggle between the other tabs: write, setup, etc without the play screen changing. When I make something active in write or engrave then the play screen changes. Kind of defeats the purpose of a second window.

What’s the problem using the key editor in Write mode?

The problem is that I have two 49" screens and I’d like to use them both at the same time and in write mode, I’d like access to the bottom panel. Even if I have both screens showing write mode and have key editor on one screen as soon as I activate the carot, the key editor goes away on the other screen. I don’t understand the benefit of having more than one window open if they can’t show independent things.

I still don’t understand your problem… Here’s two windows open, caret active, and different views…

Yeah-your solution is working for me now. As long as I use the key editor in write mode I can stretch it up to take up all the space I need and then switching the other screen is working right for me. I was getting confused because it doesn’t work when I’m using the Play screen key editor, but that’s no big deal. Thanks!

Is it possible you’re encountering the problem described in this thread?

If so, make sure you update to Dorico 5.1.50, in which this problem is resolved.
