Is it possible to project the lyrics onto a screen in VST Live? Can you send the live lyrics to software like Pro Presenter (ProPresenter: The #1 Choice in Presentation Software), which would allow you to integrate them into moving background images? Or can they be output via HDMI, including black bars, for example?!
Bro…… you created 20 new topics in 2 hrs…. Breathe!!!
Anyway, every view (video outs, chords, lyrics, mixer, dmx mixer, notes, etc etc …. ) can be popped out with the arrow on top right angle, and moved to any other monitor (I have a 21” tv monitor where I put lyrics for the singer as a reader on the ground)
Cheers, Ciro.
Yes, I send all the suggestions via E-Mail to Steinberg before. But they asked me to keep writing in the forum. So that’s what I do now…
The thing is: I don’t want the windows to only pop out… I want them to be always on top so that I can still control other things in VST Live while holding the windows in top.
I don’t have a second screen - that’s why I need such a function, to keep the external windows on top of VST Live…
In Mac you can’ it’s an OS thing, in windows no, we will need an options from devs!
E.g : With VNC server (on WIN11) you can set coordinates to stream out on different ports finally on iOS client (viewer) to just see a portion of your screen
I’m on Windows…
If you have HDMI out to a screen or projector you can configure Windows to either mirror your laptop screen or extend it. If you have a USB3 port you can also use that for an external screen. Plenty of scope there for more desktop real estate. Most Karaoke DJs use this for lyric display - just open your lyric window and slide it into position. Maximising a window on a secondary display will not interfere with your existing display. No need for the devs to add anything.
Ok, so it’s already possible to send the lyrics to a window?
Yes - it’s been there for quite a while - like way back in version 1.
Click “Lyrics” in the top menu and then click the → button to push it to its own window.
Ok. Then I see the lyrics being shown as if I use them for myself.
If I want them to be created like this:
How to do?
okay @UdoBehm ! Do you have such a karaoke software already? If it can label lyrics for timecode, that is also a solution, etc… or?
Even you can “burn lyrics” to the video file… in DaVinci resolve you can even import SRT files into video project and burn at render.
Both might help you for now maybe
Haha
This has nothing to do with karaoke - it is used for worship services. Programs like ProPresenter (ProPresenter: The #1 Choice in Presentation Software) create a looped background video where the current lyric text is shown in the foreground.
As far as I know Ableton Live is able to work together with ProPresenter. It sends the lyrics that you get on https://loopcommunity.com/ to the software that then creates the looped videos in combination with the lyrics.
I don’t need it so far yet. But for the future I would of course like VST Live to be able to send these information to such programs as well.
Then the technicians don’t have to run lyrics twice - once by theirselves for the audience and once in VST Live for the one who’s playing
My fault for your misunderstanding @fkalmus - I used Karaoke as an example of use, not the OPs situation.
Give the one who’s playing an iPad with the Live Mods app installed. It’s independent of the VSTL lyric window. And you can run more than one iPad at the same time. You’ll need a wireless network though, preferably dedicated and with no internet access. You could run a wired network but that’s just more cables/adapters.
Meanwhile Ableton can’t provide lyrics to iPad. So again, Let’s make your question simple:
- you want to do NOW this and that
- because of this and that
- as you gig looks this and that
- or you want to achieve this and that for that specific workflow
Then we can think with you (giving ideas) maybe we will like your concept too to “steal” your idea to our concerts/gigs too
I just think it would be practical if VST Live could send live lyrics to a presentation software since the song lyrics are anyway available in the software already.
I just know of one congregation that must have connected Ableton Live and ProPresenter together. So Ableton Live plays the song in the timeline, downloaded from Loop Community and ProPresenter takes care of displaying the live lyrics - but just one line and not the whole song on the screen (as in the picture). As I do not use ProPresenter myself I don’t know how this combination and set up with Ableton Live works. But since you can download the songs from Loop Community too and integrate them in VST Live and since VST Live has a lyrics function, I think it definately would be interesting sending these lyrics to a presentation software or a projector.
Maybe VST Live itself could once become moving background videos as they are integrated in ProPresenter. Then VST Live could become the presentation software itself und wouldn’t need a junction for other presentation software anymore…
@UdoBehm
meanwhile I understand every word of your long/detailed answer , I still can’t get exactly what
?
Send lyrics out to a projector or a presentation software. but only one sentence and not almost the whole song…
Hi @UdoBehm
-… because your current workflow is … your gig looks… your stage concept to achieve is …
Let’s brainstorm together!
Well, as said - I currently don’t use it. Just would like to know whether it can be done already maybe or (hopefully) it will be possible to do so in the future…
…was just a suggestion that I wanted to write or maybe someone knows how to do this already…
