(SOLVED) Iconica sketch on ipad no sounds on some instruments

No problem with the stand alone app.

Same on Android with the inapp version..

Do none of the staccato etc buttons work, even when the instrument is having sound?

I came to find out.. if an instrument has sound and you use the pianoroll brown keys to change the style and then go to an instrument that didnt have sound, will have sound. You’ll have to try a few times between a working instr and a non working one.. but it will wake up the instrument.. untill you select another one and then it stops working again.

It’s a mess.. and it seems that updates are not properly tested

Although it will likely never happen but I would still suggest that @LSlowak and team considers doing public beta-testing prior to releases to avoid these kind of issues in the future…

We are the beta testers unfortunately.

Notice the Cubasis 3 update changelog dates. They release a 3.x version bump, collect all our data from us actually testing it, then release a 3.x.1 update with actual fixes shortly after.

I dont know how it on ios but the playstore let devs have a betatester programs that people can sign up for.. this gives devs the chance to test their new features/updates across devices..

The beautiful thing is that they can test them in smaller chunks before releasing them as a big update in the regular app..

Yet cubasis hasnt got such program

On iOS/iPadOS there’s app called TestFlight that allows developers to do either private or public betas (I personally do beta on a bunch of apps for various developers) of their apps with built-in feedback functionality that sends crashlogs and other diagnostic information back to the developer.

Some companies just prefer to stay more low-key when it comes to betas and I can partially understand that but there is no better way to ‘test’ an app than letting real-world users take them for a spin and provide feedback.

The downside of betas is that too many choose to do beta just to get ‘Early Access’ without providing any valuable feedback…

Sure.. when it comes to new features that competitor apps dont have then they dont want it beta tested.. but leave them out of the beta test then. Lol

But when it comes to bugfixes or improvements on already released elements then there is no danger imo.

But.. yh.. cubasis cant even announce an update ahead of time  they are super secretive about everything lol.. Never An Straight Answer haha NASA.. Top Secret..

Hi all,

We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing.

Our apps undergo extensive QA and external beta testing, and YouTubers also receive early versions to share feedback before release. Despite these efforts, the complexity of products means new features can occasionally introduce unforeseen issues.

A public beta would significantly increase costs and delay releases, which isn’t sustainable in the niche mobile music software market.

We’re evaluating the current Iconica Sketch issues and aim to provide an update soon.

Best,
Lars

And yet.. nobody found the iconica bug.. while me, on the latest samsung flagship tablet and on the latest android version, has it and Jay on his ipad has it.

Please elobrate how such thing is possible with your “extensive” beta test procedure?

And all the other bugs and inconviences that arose with this latest update?

Even simple things as the 3 dots/handle hindering the play button on the latest android version.. how is that overlooked?

Seems like your flock of beta testers are not the right fit and it’s time to change your beta testing procedure..

All companies have their ‘own procedures’ and I accept that…
…I also know that assuming things work without proper real-world testing is a recipe for disaster.

Most corporate programmers I know live by the mantra “It should work!” and when it doesn’t defense mode kicks in with excuses like “It’s not supposed to bee used that way” etc.

All in all assumption is the mother of all f*ckups and one of the few ways to combat that is to let the ‘monkeys’(ie. real world users) at it and gather as much intel as possible…

I don’t know who is doing testing for Steinburg, but we the community are doing more than whoever you’re paying for QA and YouTube videos.

We are reporting widespread problems with the most popular sampler on the planet, and a popular synth from a large company. We are reporting problems with extremely basic functionality known as Bluetooth audio.

Nobody tested this update with BT Audio, or uses Koala Sampler or BA-1? This feels insulting. We have desire to WORK and CREATE in this program and we’re treated like lab rats.

Hi @jaysanchez311, hi everyone,

For now, please try using the AUv3 plug-in version of Iconica Sketch instead of the Cubasis plug-in version, until we have a fix available.

Cubasis supports AUv3 plug-ins, and this version should not exhibit the current issues seen with the Cubasis plug-in.

Please let me know if this helps resolving the issue for now.

Best regards,
Lars
