Thanks for the update, but obviously the installer fails if run via the SDA. Have a look at this thread, the effect is the same for basically all users.

Just an FYI, MacOS 15.5 running SDA 1.38.1 performed the update to 12.0.10 without issue on my end.

Hi JurgenP,

and thanks for bringing this to my attention.

We have identified and solved the issue with the SDA on Windows systems. Automatic installation should now work as expected.

All the best,
Luis

Windows installation here - worked as it should. Thank you!

Thx a lot !!!

Flawless and fast AMD GPU rendering here so far, plus other very welcome fixes and enhancements.

Bottom line: thanks a lot, I’m quite relieved to get going with 12 now, instead of having to revert to 11 completely, after this fix!

No mention of ANY MAC bug fixes? Speed/Quality of unmix

When we get every month such an update, SL 12 will be even a fantastic program from a programatic side. The goal should always be less bugs. No matter what.
I discovered some more bugs in the gui, that should be fixed, because they are just annoying and degrade the funfactor of SL a lot.
Let’s say 6 to 10 updates from now - it’ll be almost perfect.

But yes: SL was, is and will be an outstanding ingenious program, a class of its own - no question about that!

For instance:
Using the amplifier tool turns out to be a slideshow with updates around once per second.
This is not acceptable.

OK, first impressions are BETTER, the demo track I used has cut from 30+mins to 11:20

ALSO, the percussion HAS moved to drums but not entirely, it’s odd as the track starts with the percussion and the learn functionality doesn’t work and there’s a little bleed into other & piano? The difference is night and day (I mean, nothing could have been worse for my use and needs) but it’s still not great.

*edit I hadn’t turned on unmix sax and brass first, I’m guessing that’ll go back to 30 mins, time for a 2nd try,

**2nd pass, as fast (still slow compared to others), same results, percussion thats’ in with drums, moves into piano later. Piano separation is appalling, split with piano and other.

It always has been

is it a real piano? or a synth version? EP?

plenty of manual work still to do…unmix modules are starting point for the most part IME

Piano, keyboard and synth sounds are the biggest weak spot in every stem separation tool I know. From my view they should be the main area of future improvements by proper training, for all of these tools.

It is scandalous that that are no improvements for Mac users. Appalling!

Doesn’t read like no improvements

SL12 still performs worse on Mac than SL11.
Still nothing here that makes the performance any better on Macs.
Performance on Macs is many times worse than on PC’s.
SL12 should be sold with a notice: “Don’t expect this software to perform well on a Mac”.

It’s a shame you’re so dissatisfied. It’s a real shame.
Have you considered contacting support and requesting a refund?

Explain to them exactly why you cannot and do not want to work with this version.
I could well imagine that Steinberg would be willing to issue a refund if you give a proper explanation.

Edit:

From what I’ve read here, more Windows users and AMD Systems have been having problems with this last release.
It might have something to do with your system, but unfortunately, you don’t say how you can be helped, only why you’re upset.

Understandably, help isn’t possible this way.

Nothing wrong with my system. Across the boards almost all Mac users are complaining.
I don’t need help but a Mac version that works as well as the Windows version. No GPU processing on Macs in SL12. This makes it painfully slow. In fact unusable for unmixing.

Please inform yourself better.

I’m on Windows 10, and the installer worked fine here, installing everything from SDA.
I’ve made a download location g:\steinberg, and after downloading the zip archive, it was verified correctly, and after say about 20-30, I got a green checkmark.

Though the initial SL12.0.0 release failed to install here, where the zip files wasn’t verified correctly with a green checkmark.

EDIT:
Saw another post from Steinberg. I guess they’ve fixed it before I downloaded the update
