Just tried installing my software that came with my UR22mkII, and the Steinberg Download Assistant is refusing to assist me with my downloads. I’m unable to install any download through the Download Assistant.
I’m running 64-bit Windows 11.
I have also downloaded and run the suggested repair patches (as suggested by other threads in the forums), downloaded what I can from the Steinberg downloads page, and still the installer refuses to install.
The error message I receive is (very plainly): An error occurred while downloading "Cubase 14.0.5 - Application (required). Please try again later.
I am getting the same message. I tried the additional installs but it only worked once. Then the next day I wanted to do the latest Dorico 5 Pro update and could not get it to work. I ended up just downloading myself from the site and doing the update that way. I too am on Win 11.
Any help would be appreciated.
cheers,
JDTune
I see more and more reports of users with the same problems. I don’t remember a fix. For now just download the latest versions manually.
I was due for a reinstall of Windows. I had an absolutely non function download assistant, after the reinstall all was working perfectly again even with the same windows version
Thank you for your response Glenn. My computer came with Win 11, I just do the Win 11 updates. I wouldn’t think we should have to do a reinstall of windows just to get an app to work, but interesting that it worked for you.
SDA was updated recently and a few people say they got a working SDA again. For me, it was very much out of the blue. 1 day I opened SDA and it wanted to install an ASIO driver and after that, everything was broken. I did uninstall everything related to SDA that I could think of in Windows 11 program files, log files in app data folder etc. Probably there was something I missed in the registry so just keep watching the forum for announcements about the latest updates if you want to stay up to date I guess.
I see that Steinberg has announced to update the download assistant to 1.36.4. I did so manually. But this new update does not work. The notice gave a date of Dec 17 2024 for previous version that will no longer work. My query for Steinberg is does this mean that the new version will not start working until Dec 17?
I am having the same problem and have so far wasted 4 hours of my life reading forums and troubleshooting. I read that one person even wiped their whole computer and reinstalled on the fresh instance of Windows 11 and it happened again. I am this close to giving up on Steinberg forever, it’s always something.
It is shocking to me that Steinberg did not even comment on this issue, it has been going on for a while, I bought Spectralayers 11 pro a week ago and still can’t download it!!!
I think the only viable solution at the moment is to dowload and install the applications manually from the downloads page Steinberg Downloads Page
You can get the applications from here. However downloading and installing the Sound Content is not so easy as most of the Sound Content is still set up to be installed via the Download Assistant which is broken. I would be easier if Steinberg just put in direct download links for all their Sound Content packages and be done with it saving everyone the agony of futzing around with their broken Download Assistant.
Happening to me too. I tried to update Halion 7 and get the error. Recently purchased Groove Agent and got the error. Just tried updating to Cubase 14.0.10 and got the error there too
I tried uninstalling the DM and installing a freshly downloaded copy, but the errors persist. I don’t mind it so much with the software (manual install as a workaround is easy enough), but the content libraries… it just makes a mess with no way of knowing what, if any, content installed. I can confirm software versions… but snare rim 11 b or kick 14 a (insert blah blah name) is like going through a public library, with no list, to make sure all the books are on the shelves
Downloading multiple GB of data repeatedly isn’t cool
I have a workaround now. If I select a different folder to download to (and even then, there are only a few specific ones it likes) it works fine, then I can copy into the program files → steinberg area. Wont download to downloads, or the default location, or a bunch of other areas but works fine now I’ve found a friendly folder. Some permissions issues is my guess.
