Says it all.
I called the Hotline and got a workaround, they sent me a file to replace, now it’s working… seems they have quite a problem to fix this issue…
This worked for me:
-
Right click on the folder and go to the Properties window
-
Navigate to the Security tab and click on Advanced
-
In the Owner section, click Change
-
Click Advanced > Find Now > Find your username in the search results > OK
-
Click OK again for the selected username
-
Check the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects box > Apply > Yes > OK
-
Click OK in the advanced security settings windows
-
Click Advanced again > Change Permissions > Enable Inheritance, To add a new object click Select a parent and follow steps 5 and 6
-
Go to Show advanced permissions to enable more permissions > OK
Maybe I was too fast! still giving me trouble
What file did they send you?
This could be a possible solution on Windows OS
For the duration of the download, I suggest following this procedure:
- Disable IPv6
- Open Network Settings
- Go to Advanced Network Adapter Settings
- Right-click on the network adapter
- Select Properties
- Uncheck “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)”
After the download, please re-enable TCP/IPv6.
Shouldn’t the program just work? Like all my other “download assistants” from the likes of Arturia, N.I, IKM, Plugin Alliance, etc? Steinberg’s is the only one with which I have problems.
Yes, it really should.
I have both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled by default on our network adapters and I have never had an issue either starting the SDA or downloading products within it.
But, having said that, nobody anywhere should have to worry about whether IPv6 is enabled or not. That kind of thing might have been an issue 10 years ago. Shouldn’t be now.
Same issue here! I was under the impression the USB dongle was a thing of the past too. It wants me to install the license activation app, but why?
Have a look at this
MAY 2025 Official End of eLicenser Service
I had to add the Download Assistand as an excception in Windows firewall.
Added “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Download Assistant\Steinberg Download Assistant.exe” to “Windows Defender Firewall → Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall”, and it started working again.
It speaks volumes about Steinberg, sadly.
Been trying for a couple of months to get Download Assistant to work, tried all the different ideas listed here, still get this error everytime…
Hi and welcome to the forum!
Yes, this sucks.
Anyways, just download the file directly - the result is not any different from the downloaded version with the notoriously broken SDA.
You will find the latest version plus all additional content. No further problems to deal with, plain and simple.
Enjoy!
I called the technical support hotline, they gave me a workaround. Worked fine after that.
For such an important piece of software - not acceptable, the thing should just work.
Can you please tell us what it was? There are a bunch of different solutions out there and I have not seen a system behind it, yet.
This worked for me. I had to allow it for both private and public network.
What was the workaround?
They had me delete some folders and sent me a file to replace one of the registries (I think it was a registry file or something like this). Basically, they walked me through by mail and via telephone.
