Super vision is great, but I think it can be improved in areas making it more robust for more technical users. I would like to see it incorporate the level of detail and responsiveness in other metering applications such as SPL Hawkeye, Izotope Insight, and Klanghelm VUMT Deluxe. These other applications offer a level of analysis options that allow you to truly customize your metering preference. Having this in Super Vision will allow users like myself to rely upon only one metering solution oppose to multiple separate vst applications open in my projects. This is also beneficial for users like myself that go back and forth between both Cubase and WaveLab.
Would you know if these things are in Nuendo?
That would make sense but if it isn’t then, that would make sense too…lol
I believe SuperVision is available in Cubase, WaveLab, and Nuendo. WaveLab includes it’s own separate tools of metering, and while it offers some advanced features, it still falls short of what I explained above. I am not sure if Nuendo offers any advanced metering outside of SuperVision.
Hi,
I think you need to be more specific about your feature request since there are a variety of possible options (e.g. focusing on different frequency bands, mid/side etc).
There’s a reason why there’s an abundance of tools out there.
Anyways, same here - I have got several metering tools in my control room to adress different needs in metering.
Fair enough. Definitely need the mid-side functionality for all metering options. Also, the various weighting and pre-processing methods such as Blackman-Harris etc. per meter. Having the ability to clearly focus in on decibel ranges could be improved. The ability to capture snapshots of reference tracks for comparison. Visually I think the options that SuperVision provides are great, but I would like to have the ability to easily rearrange existing open modules. But it is the advanced precision metering options that are needed in my opinion to offer a thorough and complete metering solution. For example, I frequently use Voxengo Span plus for it’s many advanced features along with it’s ability to compare snapshots, Hawkeye for it’s ability to hone in on decibel ranges and specific low or high frequencies via the lin and log algorithms, as well as it’s general responsiveness. Klanghelm VUMT for it’s mid-side, weighting and easy calibration options. This is just some of the options off the top of my head that I would like to see added. In this current day of mixing and mastering I think metering is somewhat underrated and taken for granted. A serious advanced metering solution is key to my workflow.
I am with you - it would be nice to have more options. No question.
However, you listed quite a few new features just out of the top of your head. I could do the same and that would extend the list times 2.
I agree - metering in all its facettes is underrated and for most people it’s an integral part of their customized workflow. That’s where it gets tricky. Everyone might want something different. However, it’s definetly worth discussing it to find a common ground for improvement wishes that many people agree on.
But yeah, it would be nice to reduce the number of insert slots necessary for metering plugins. As I said, I’m with you
Just gimme the option to have a bloody VU meter on every channel!
DIY, @Googly_Smythe ! All it takes is a bit of glue, cables and a few old vu meters. Done!
Can you show an example of what you can’t rearrange? Or is it the “easily” part? I might be completely misunderstanding you.
If you can dock meters in Wavelab, you should be able to do the same with Supervision. Or did you find any differences?
I guess he means rearranging the modules in Supervision. Just dragging it somewhere in the window.
If so, Im not sure i understand the issue. You currently can combine and rearrange them.
“rearrange”? No. You can arrange them in any order you want, but once the layout is done you can’t move them and rearrange the layout.
Unless this is a recent development.
I agree with the request to easily be able to move the modules around.
Exactly.
Rearrange + custom plugin naming. I have 3, sometimes 4 different SuperVisions in ControlRoom for different tasks. Sometimes I’m forgetting and then I’m opening the wrong one.
I think that SuperVision is the number 1 plugin that needs this feature.
