Doing an old project that used JX16 extensively and I have SX installed…but for some reason the JX is not in the install folder or anywhere on drive. Is it possible to download somewhere? Would be amazing if the steinberg lock was taken off legacy devices so that eg 32bit could be bridged for occasional legacy projects/work.
This is another reason for my other post “Why I never use steinberg native plugs anymore”
same problem - I tend to ignore Cubase native plugins as the road is littered with their abandoned corpses - LM4, Neon, Model E, JX16 not to mention effects
This plug-in was included with Cubase VST 5. You’ll find it in a folder in the Cubase SX CD which also contains the rest of the legacy Cubase VST era plug-ins.
Please keep in mind that some of the old Cubase stock plug-ins were made in collaboration with a third party, and couldn’t be ported to modern platforms. This first happened when Apple computers switched from PowerPC to Intel back around 2006. The plug-ins included with Cubase 13 are made by Steinberg in-house, and so this is very unlikely to happen again.
Not entirely true. It take 3 clicks on the Support link on the Steinberg website to get to this: VST Classics 1 & 2
… containing VB-1, Model E, Neon and Karlette.
WHich again…Is why I no longer use any proprietary plugs in Cubase or Live
You cant even use eg JBridge to make it useable. Sometimes certain tools become part of an artists palette…with no need to change as they are actually tools…not the latest tricks and become part of an artist’s tones.
Along with so many other issues
It would be courteous that, if and or when, a proprietary plugin is removed, it becomes available as a generic (plain vst) plug available for those who wish to use in future.
Sometimes I rework stuff from 1980s hehe…as its become quite fresh now. At least there is a path to get to the .arr files and bring them…thanks for that Steiny!!!
As far as I can see Steinberg have shifted away from bundling 3rd party plugins to using their own stuff now only. Not sure about the new EQ and compressor plugins of C13 Pro but the rest is Steinberg native with the exception of Loopmash FX. Possibly Super Vision is also 3rd party? But that is just an analyzer and does not alter the sound.
Other 3rd party licensed code should include “audio allignment”, several file import and export routines, head tracking, ARA, time stretching and pitch shifting, and possibly VariAudio (not quite sure, though).
