Do you have a quality team?
This does not belong in 2025.
what are we looking at here? The blob up top? Less snark and more info maybe?
I agree that this plugin is redundant, but do you really feel like this post is at all productive/constructive?![]()
The plugin has too much aliasing that should be filtered to prevent the harmonics from bouncing back and invading the audible spectrum and generating IM products and other undesirable things.
PluginDoctor shows -150 db aliasing so it´s negligible (unless you activate the limiter which increases harmonics).
Anyway, another compressor? really?
With the clipper turned on and set to hard, that might be expected. More context would be needed to say anything about this.
Its a clipper, a must have tool in modern sound design, Cubase doesnt have another clipper.
Cubase does have a plugin called “SoftClipper”, but I suppose you’re right — this is their first proper clipper. I use third-party stuff.
I use 3rd party clippers as well, but they had to at some point have a hard-clipper, surprised it took so long.
But…harmonics are not aliasing?
They are when they go up, hit the Nyquist limit of your sample rate, then come back down.
If they get increased exponentially when limited, they’re not negligible. As per it being yet another compressor, you know there are more compressor plugins than particles in the universe, right?
Seems a lot of folks are judging this book by its cover. You should watch Dom’s video on this one before writing it off. There’s clearly a learning curve to this plugin.*
*note the OP is using a preset called “Tube Vocal Layer”. Duh.
Cubase does have a plugin called “SoftClipper”
The old Soft Clipper is for adding subtle drive only. Does not allow for adjusting gain and other features normally found in clippers.
compressors are in second place after…drum kits ![]()
Show me a tube that do aliasing.
My bad - I was thinking of harmonics.
But you have a pretty aggressive setting though. By nature, aliasing comes with aggressive clipping. Step into the swamp, expect to get wet… Maybe submit a feature request for oversampling?
Looking forward to checking this out when it comes to Nuendo.
imagine coding a saturation plugin with no oversampling in 2025, LOL
Aliasing comes from plugin vendors that do non linear function without taking care of the consequence or maybe dont have the most basic knowledge about digital audio processing. The later should not be a problem within Steinberg/Yamaha.
How do you check cubase plugins with Plugin doctor? I can only use third party plugins with plugin doctor. Thanks, A
