Unable to add a chord or notes within a bar without altering the other notes

Sorry if this has already been covered, I’ve looked and I can see similar posts but none of them seem to work for me.
I’m trying to add a two note chord into a bar and every time I do that it alters the notes prior to the position I’m attempting to place the new notes: see below

I want to place two quarter notes 'C and 'E after the two eighth notes 'D and 'F, it won’t let me when in chord mode. When I place a note in Insert mode it then creates a barred note with the two eighth notes.

I hope that make sense.
I’m finding this quite cumbersome at the moment and not easy (down to the user I know).

I’m quite sure I’m not the best person to answer, but somehow that bar has become a 2/4 bar - you can see that with half note tied across the bar line so that’s what you’ll need to look for to address. You don’t appear to have your sign posts showing, at least not on the snippet so it’s hard why/how. I know there are some event posts here on that topic. Maybe look at this one?

Time Signature Change Messes Up

I think I have seen this addressed but cannot find it. I created a bar of 2/4 and entered notes. I decided to change back to 4/4, but now the bar only allows 2 beats even though it says 4/4. I can delete the bar and re-enter notes, but it seems there should be a way to fix this. [image]
