Unable to update SB account email

I need to change my account details, specifically my email address. I am signed in but the self-help system won’t let me edit. There must be some sort of support to get this done, but I can’t find it. Can anyone here give me a clue please?

Are you doing it in this screen?

Looks like there’s something wrong with that, I’ll report.

I just tried the process and it worked for me. What didn’t work as expected for you?

Thanks, @Ben_at_Steinberg – it worked just now!

I see what’s happening… if I try to add a new email that was already registered it gives an email address not valid error. I had forgotten that I had used that one.

@jaydear could that be the problem you’re having?

@Steve Yes, that is the same screen. I assume that clicking in the red “Change email address” is supposed to open up a dialogue that allows you to key in the new email address. Nothing happens there or in the other two for change password and enabling 2-step authentication.

@Ben_at_Steinberg I just tried it again. I don’t even get as far as the “Please enter your new email address” window at all, so there’s no way to enter anything.

Do you have any content blockers enabled that might be preventing a cookie-consent modal dialog from displaying?

@Ben_at_Steinberg - I’ve turned them off as I do on several other ‘touchy’ sites and I’ve also tried typing in my username and pw instead of using copy+paste that FireFox does automatically, but the result is still the same. I tried all this mid-last year too, and tried to change my email then, but gave up trying to get past whatever your web gurus have set up. I’ve missed out on the discounted upgrade to V12 and can’t get any offers or whatever emailed to me because my previous internet provider just dumped all email accounts altogether last year. I’ve managed to change my email almost everywhere, but there are still a couple that won’t budge  I’m in Australia btw. What’s frustrating is that I can log into my account and see my details, but not alter what needs altering!

I guess you are on Windows using Firefox, try using a different browser. I had these kind of problems on other sites as well, just because Firefox did something different than other browsers.

I’m trying to avoid the standard data collecting beasts like Edge or Chrome, I use now Vivaldi and did not encounter any of the previous problems.

@JuergenP - Wow! Yes, that was it. Vivaldi works. It’d be nice if Steinberg stated somewhere “Our website is not compatible with FireFox” or similar warning. Many thanks for your tip and to everyone for your assistance.
Now, from what I’ve read elsewhere, we need the Steinberg dev’s to get our GPUs revving up SL12

Hi,
would you mind to mark @JuergenP 's post as solution, please? This way the solution appears right on top in case other users experience the same problem.
Cheers!

@Reco29 Happy to do that. I can’t see an icon/button for “solved” so I’ve liked it and bookmarked it but I suspect that’s not the way to do it :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

(There’s no solution checkbox available in the lounge)

@Steve This harder than filling in a tax return! I click on ‘my posts’… there it is… click on it but I see I’m still in the lounge. Sorry to seem dopey, but how does one get out of the lounge to gain access to the little spanner?

Sorry, my bad. It slipped my attention that this thread resides in the lounge where it’s not possible to mark a solution as steve pointed out.

What do you mean by the “little spanner” outside of the lounge area?

Goto Forum Guide / Mark a post as the solution / Details
Click in the picture which then plays an animation and shows the little spanner you use to do the job down in the bottom RH corner :innocent:

Hi,

you are right - the forum guide is a bit vague in that department and there have been quite a few users lately who had trouble to mark a solution as such. Moreover, the forum guide doesn’t explain why it helps other users if one marks a solution in a thread.
In case you are interested, I just posted a little How-To
