Upon loading an existing Project, No audio from Groove Agent 6 until I open the Instrument

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

Every time I load an existing Project that contains a MIDI track for drums/percussion AND the instrument is Groove Agent (V6), I get no audio (ie. sound) for the given drum/percussion track until I open GA.

Note; I DO hear audio from all of the other instruments (e.g. Halion, Retrologue, etc) without having to open that given instrument.

This behavior only occurs with GA-6. In fact the problem did NOT exist in previous versions of Groove Agent.

Once I open GA, I hear the audio from that given MIDI track. At this point, I can close GA6 and I will continue to hear the sounds as expected.

This problem started after the installation of Groove Agent 6. I have a PC and a Mac. The problem occurs on both platforms.

SUMMARY:

  1. Load an existing Cubase Project that contains one or more midi tracks assigned to Groove Agent (V6)
  2. Click “Play” to start the the sequence
  3. No audio is heard from ANY midi track assigned to GA6
  4. All other MIDI tracks assigned to other instruments (e.g. Halion, Retrologue, etc) work as expected.
  5. “Open” the GA6 plugin assigned to the given drum MIDI track. I now hear the audio from the GA6 component.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

  1. I’m using Cubase 15 and Groove Agent 6. Both have been continuously updated as soon as Steinberg releases a new update.
  2. This problem started after the installation of Groove Agent 6.
  3. I can make a new project that contains a drum track assigned to GA6, and save that file. Upon loading that new project, the problem occurs (no audio from the GA6 track)
  4. I have a Windows-PC AND a new Mac-Studio (maxed out with CPU, memory, etc) - and the problem occurs on both platforms.

What changes are required to restore my system(s) to the previous behavior, where I hear the drum sound upon loading a saved project?

Hello – Is anybody from Steinberg reading this thread?

You know this is a user forum?
I can’t answer as I don’t have GA6. It may be that no one has any idea what the problem may be.

@HED

Hi,

If you specifically want help from a Steinberg employee, please contact our support team. Here you are in the user forum, where normally users help each other.

But, I had a look. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to reproduce the problem. Where your existing projects all done with Groove Agent 5 in the first place? Can you reproduce the issue by setting up a fresh project with Groove Agent 6?

Cheers,
Jan

Hi HED, I was able to reproduce it here. It’s now in our Defect-Tracking-System and listed as Bug-ID “HALLY-12024”. I hope we can provide a fix for it soon. Thanks for your report and please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused. Gerrit Junge
