I was reading the old thread which has been started since 2015. I canāt believe that itās 2017 and I reached the latest post but NO SOLUTION! Really shame on you, YAMAHA! You better borrow an engineer from other companies to reprogram this simple incompatibility issue in one day. Itās 4 AM here and I was reading this three-years old novel since 8 hours ago. Oh my head is aching. Iāll sell this nincompoop black brick asap.
Used the UR22 for years with Windows 7 without any problem, now got a new Win10 PC and when I play a music the sound stops randomly like every 20 minutes to an hour, with no reason.
CPU: Intel i7 6700K
Mobo: Gigabyte, Z170-HD3P-CF
RAM: Corsair CMK32GTX4M2B3000C15 x2
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4GB
Got a PCIE USB card that uses power directly from the PSU but still nothing.
Using drivers 1.9.6
Canāt spend more money on it, next would be buying another brand interfaceā¦
Hi guys!
For me this problem started out last week. I have been using the UR44 for about more than one year now without any issue. Last week I did update the Bios update for F5 (Gigabyte B85M D3PH) and some new drivers from Gigabyte so the nightmare came in! Just listening MP3 with Media Player I got that drop out. Sometimes it goes away, sometime all the time boring me.
I have everything disabled in BIOS: EIST, C-States, Idle State and soā¦
I am running Win7 x64, Intel Core i7 4790, 32GB of memory, off board video card. This is very weird.
I assume this is a Gigabyte driver (chipset or any other) problem on my specific case since I did not have this before. I need to put the buffer size at maximum now to listen to the music.
Very sad!
I thought I had solved the problem, but it is not so.
After more than a week without audio drop outs, here they are again!
So, after some BIOS features disabled, I started to change USB ports where the audio interface is connected to, without results.
Now I left it connected to one of USB 3 ports on the back, instead of USB 2.
I tried to power it with external 5V too, and still had drop outs.
Then I started to disconnect other USB devices, initially all connected to USB 2 ports :
a wi-fi keyboard & mouse set and a 49 keys keyboard-controller.
Now they are on USB 3 front ports.
So far, after two days of work on a new audio project, I did not have any drop out.
But I wouldnāt go tasting victory yetā¦
Iāve tried many things with no luck.
USB 2 and 3 ports, removed old drivers using Ghostbursters software, removed Intel Rapid Storage because it puts the Sata HDDs on low power mode as wellā¦so many things that I canāt remember.
This is a driver issue for me since my problem came in after installing new drivers from Gigabyte.
Maybe the chipset driver or Realtek audio driver or even the new USB 3 driver.
I canāt remove the chipset driver at all. Donāt know why.
This is weirdā¦seems when using USB 3 the problem is still worse!
Very upset about that. I am thinkin of doing a system restoreā¦I have no other option.
Hi Folks,
Steinberg got back to me with an update on my support ticket investigating the driver issue (see my Feb 4 post in this thread for the last testing stage). Seems the testing I sent back on the prototype driver has produced some useful results. The Yamaha developer responsible for the driver thanked me for the detailed testing reports so far and is beavering away on an update based on the results (and I assume there are others providing testing as well).
No suggestion has been made on when an update will come. Iām just letting you know that support is still active on the issue that has impacted some of us adversely. Hopefully this will help many of us.
Hi guys!
Well, like I said, for me this is driver issue, really.
I did a system restoration yesterday to the last point before the Gigabyteās drivers installation and when the problems started out.
Then, I did install the new GT630 VGA driver again without any audio HD driver. Just the video driver. I did install the UR44 1.9.9 driver, removed Intel Rapid Storage as well. I did not instal the Realtek driver yet but it was installed before the problem showed up.
Well, since yesterday the system is running right with no drop outs. I did listen to the music all the day long and no stop and go audio. This noon I am going to do more tests.
But seems to be some king of fighting beteween UR interfaceās driver and Gigabyte drivers, in my case. I canāt say which Gigabyte driver is causing the issueā¦but for me, at least, all these problems came in after more than one year using the UR44 with no complains and right after update the Gigabyte drivers, I had drop outs all the time. When I restored the system, they seems to be gone!
I will keep you posted.
Drop out the drop outs!!! [ problem solved ]
I just sold the leaky ur22mkii and bought a glorious FOCUSRITE 2i4 G2. England prevail.
Listening to the great Roger Waters with all BIOS and device manager things ENABLED.
I borrowed Scarlett solo from my friend and the problem was gone too. Probably will buy one for myselfā¦
So that shows up or confirm that is a driver issue.
The guys from Steinberg need to do a āshield driverā, you know. A driver that protects the audio from external devices or computer services and so.
Anyways, I canāt replace mine now, so do I really expect a resolution for this from Steinberg team.
My drop outs are very rare now, actually.
Anyways, the Bios settings are not only for playback purposes, guys. Many DAWs have issues when they are enable too. Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic for instance. Just Presonus Studio One seems to be apart of this.
I updated my system from an i5 to an i7. I hunted down the issue for more than 6 months and tried absolutely every solution out there.
In the end, it turned out that the issue was that the new mobo chipset (Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5) did not fully support Win7 64bit. When I updated to Win8.1 Pro, all issues went away. Unfortunately, when I updated to Win10 Pro, the same issue returnedā¦8.1 is worth a go, but give 10 a miss.
The problem with win7 and the chipset appeared to be related to the lack of native USB3 support in win7, which required an additional USB3 chipset driver (for my board), where as win8.1 has native USB3 support in the OS and did not require this driver.
As far as Win10 goes, the issue appears to be a change in how Windows handles audio and the Yamaha/Steinberg USB drivers are not playing nicely with the new Win10 audio system at all (and they canāt seem to figure it out).
I just sold my UR824 (at a fairly considerable loss) and bought a Focusrite 18i8. Much lower latency drivers, direct inputs and most importantly, it is stable and reliable on my system. I donāt have time for this. I just want to make music and be creative.
Yeahā¦but I canāt replace mine now, so I really expect the Steinberg team get a solution.
My problem is still worse than before.
The drop outs (stop and go) almost went away. But know two new issues came in.
While playback music with Media Player after a while the audio stopsā¦I can see the Media Player volume bar still running, but no audio. Then I touch on the Media Player volume button back and forth and the audio comes back. ???
Another issueā¦sometimes the audio stops on the left channel and continues on the right channel. So, again I touch on the Media player volume or master volume on UR44 for a while and it returns.
Please, guys from Steinberg. Tell us if there is a hope or not. On what are you working on? Tell us anything because we are in the dark!
Hi guys!
Just to keep you posted.
I found something that seems to be help me a lot, but this does not fully solved the issue. But now I can listen to the music many hours without drop outs. Today I was about 6 hours listening to the music when the first and only drop out happened. I just tweak the output knob and the audio came back.
Wellā¦seems Waves Sound Grid audio driver has something to doā¦By the way, Waves just released a new Sound Grid Driver today! I got an email from Waves about that update. Donāt know if this mattersā¦
For me, since I removed it and installed the UR 1.9.8 driver I had before the drop outs almost went away. It took about 6 hours to happen. Only one until now after 6 hours!
It is much more stable, at least.
FWIW, another heads up from me: After i had dropouts with the UR12 interface, and was able to solve those by deactivating the wi-fi adapter of my desktop PC, i recently bought the UR22 mk2 interface, and, itās exactly the same situation there. Dropouts with activated wi-fi adapter, no dropouts when i deactivate it. As those interfaces, for me, are kind of unbeatable from a price - performance point of view, i chose the UR22, because i already expected it to behave the same way as the UR12. So, ya, also waiting for a driver fix here, but, until then, it works fine with deactivated wi-fi adapter.
My desktop doesnāt have wifi, bluetooth, etc. Just the lan internet.
So this is not what is causing the problem here. After the steps I did it is much more stable, but I still need to do a long run to make sure.
Anyways, it is matter of a best driverā¦youāre right!
Going into my BIOS and turning off the C-State / EIST worked for me. I have a 1000w power supply and was experiencing a lot of the issues that have been discussed with intermittence and the usb light flicker. Since turning those things off, zero problems. I have an ASUS Z97 Pro board, and im noticing a lot of the users seem to also have ASRock / ASUS architecture.
Sometimes it works, sometime does not. This doesnāt fully solve the issue.
This is a setting that is a āmustā to audio. I have mine all disable and still got the drop outs here and there. My UR44 has its own PS so my USB light is always on when the pop out happens. Never flicker.
In fact, after all the settings I did and posted here the it is more stable but I am not sure if the problem is gone. It is a driver issue, for sure.
But I hope people keep posting things here because Steinberg can collect many information from everyone to solve this issue.
Thanks!
Been using a GuitarPort since about 2005 and decided to see if I couldnāt find a better interface to get a better sound combined with some different modelling software from Line 6. Never had one issue whatsoever with the GuitarPort on four different PCs. Did my research as I am not a techie guy but know a little. Came up with the UR12 and figured for the price it was about as good as I could do given given that the next step is to drop $500 plus.
Finally got everything downloaded and set up, then as I was watching some YouTube instructional vids I started to notice the sound dropping out. Thought it was probably just the video itself, but then I made my first recording and eagerly played it back but heard those same dropouts.
Kept happening so I started googling and finally found the original thread ā which brought me here. Actually, I found the Asian kid on YouTube (the one with the scissors) who said to swap out USB cables first and tried that to no avail.
Anyway, my unit cost me $80 something. Got the Cubase AI with it so I am not totally out of a product I guess (although I still much prefer Reaper). Just a ton of time in researching this instead of learning how to use everything and integrating with my other VSTs etc. I am not about to start all this troubleshooting BS and risk messing with my system that otherwise runs fine for everything else ā like EVERYTHING else, man. I am not a PC tech or a Computer Scientist. I can barely figure out how to get this stuff all set up and working on my system. Just wanted to try a new interface from a supposedly good company and get to slapping all my riffs together with a good modeler along with the DI.
That aināt happening with this product. It is going to end up in a box in my closet. Maybe someday I will try it on a new PC and it will do the trick. Not going to sell it at a loss it is hardly worth the pain in the ass of it nor do I want to risk the buyer having the same issues.
Just ordered a Lexicon Alpha from Sweetwater for $50. Should be here tomorrow and I will give it a go with that.
The company that invented ASIO drivers canāt solve this issue while there are bunches of other interfaces out there that work the way they are supposed to without having to be a PC tech ā to even try to get them to work.
This will be my last dealing with the company. Too many others out there who give a crap and fix their stuff when loyal customers just threw their money away. This issue didnāt just come up a month ago for eff sakes. Maybe allocate some more developers working on getting the issue solved instead of inventing the latest and greatest thing would be a novel idea? I canāt begin to believe the patience a lot of these folks have shown on these threads. Heck, they are doing the troubleshooting for Steiny.
Hi, I have the same problem as all of us here with my UR22mkII. This evening when iāve watching movie online,I have noticed that when drop outs is happening, online video is freezing for a milliseconds, so I think the reason of this problem is exactly in processor/chipset compatibility or something about that, and not the software-caused problem.
By the way my system is:
AMD Turion II Ultra Dual-Core Mobile M600 2.40 GHz
4 Gb DDR2
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650
Win 7 Professional 64 bit.
I have tried all solutions in this thread, older versions of drivers, etc, - no success.
Still hope Steinberg will find solution soon. Please donāt disappoint us more, donāt leave us helpless.
