Here is was I get when lauching Dorico 5. I have no icon…
Have you restarted your computer since installing? If not, the fonts installed by Dorico (which produce icons as well as the stuff on the page) won’t have properly registered with Windows.
Yes. I restarted several times.
Can you use the Bravura font in other apps, e.g. Word?
I have Bravura and Bravura Text in Word.
Unfortunately I’m travelling right now so I can’t dig into Dorico to see which font it is that those icons are drawn from - it won’t be Bravura given it’s the left panel of Engrave mode.
You might try running the Dorico installer again, and restarting again. No need to uninstall first and no need to touch the sound libraries.
Ok. Let’s try that.
Te problem is still there after reinstallation.
There is a bug I’ve occasionally encountered where the installer doesn’t correctly install all the fonts. Not sure if that’s the case here or not, but if you go to Program Files\Steinberg\Dorico5\fonts, how many items are in that folder? I have 30. If you have fewer than that, you may need to run the installer again, especially if you are missing the DoricoIcons-Regular.ttf font.
If you have all 30 items in that folder, there is a rare issue where you may need the rebuild the Windows font cache. There are instructions on how to do that if you Google it. My hunch is that the installer simply didn’t install the DoricoIcons-Regular.ttf font though.
I have 29 ttf files and one metadata folder.
I have the Doriconlcons-Regular.ttf file.
Ok, it seems like you have everything. If you close Dorico, double-click that DoricoIcons-Regular.ttf font, manually click the Install button, then start Dorico, does that fix it?
When clickling on DoricoIcons-Regular.ttf I get a message that the file is not a valid font file.
Same problem when using the win10 “setting” for installing a font.
I did a search on dorico font in setting, I get the info that the font doricoicons-regular.ttf is there. The is probably why I got an error when trying to install it …
I uninstall this font in windows10, and reinstall Dorico again.
The font is not in the system after resinstallation.
Hmm, I’m on Win11, but it works for me. Perhaps yours got corrupted somehow. If you unzip the attachment below, and try installing that one from my system, does that work?
DoricoIcons-Regular.zip (70.1 KB)
No change after cleanning the font cache.
This file is still seen as invalid by windows10.
DoricoIcons-Regular.zip (70.6 KB)
This one is working on my Win10 set up.
Thank you. It still impossible to install this one. I have probably a strange behaviour on my computer.
