Using rhythmic slash notation in ONE bar only

Can anyone help? I am having trouble creating a single bar of rhythmic slash notation and not affecting the entire layout. I just want one bar of guitar that shows the chords to be played in a specific rhythm, but all attempts so far have resulted in either regular slash notation for that bar, or changing the entire layout to rhythmic slashes.

Here you go: If the rhythm is already there, select it and use the function “Create slash voice”.
If you haven’t input the rhythm yet, choose the same command and add your rhythm. The selected voice will be indicated by a little slash note at the bottom of the caret. Then remove any unwanted rests that appear.
I’m not in front of Dorico right now, so I don’t remember the exact menus where these commands are located.
Do not, I repeat, do not  use the command “Rhythmic Slashes”, because as you found out, it will counterintuitively convert everything to slashes!

Note to team: The OP’s use case is clearly the most common, and should be easier to discover than the nuclear option “rhythmic slashes”…

Hey, thanks! Are you talking about creating a separate voice in order to do this? If so. that creates abother set of work arounds. Honestly, nearly every jazz chart uses this type of notation and its way too difficult in Dorico. I appreciate your help.

Notate your rhythm as normal notes on the middle line (B ?) then select the whole bar ; rightclick - noteheads - slash noteheads. In this way you get no unwanted rests ( as you do not use another voice)

I was just about to offer to make another video, but then remembered that I had already done this…
Pay attention to number 2, halfway through I convert a whole bar to the new slash voice just by hitting V, creating no extra rests! Using slash voices is not considered a workaround, since the function is designed to do exactly this in this exact situation.
