VDL Should NOT be this hard to use

I am about to give up and head BACK to my old notation software over 1 problem: the use and playback of VDL in Dorico. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS HARD!! Everywhere it seems to work; in Dorico, I have the same wrong sounds no matter whose tutorial I follow, and they don’t even get me started on the fact that they have some percussion maps, but do they seem to be easy to work with? NO!

What gives, Stenberg? You always put out nice tutorial videos, but honestly, this one topic is driving me absolutely crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that you’re having problems, @pthompson1. Are you using the latest VDL template being worked on by Eric Kruse? If not, I would recommend you contact Eric and ask him to provide you with the current version.

Unfortunately it’s the same, and when I asked Eric for help (remember we paid money for the latest version) I got NO reply. Sorry Dorico, this is not a working relationship.

Can you say a bit more about the specific problem(s) you’re having? I don’t personally have any expertise with Eric’s template, but @John_at_Steinberg does, so perhaps he’ll be able to provide some assistance.

I sent you a private message. Let me know, if you are interested. I am willing to help you personally offline to get things up and running.

I’ve emailed Eric for the latest version of the template so if you want to get in touch with me then I can hopefully help too.
