Video Export options?

Is there any plan to give a few more options when exporting videos? I often have to export videos to be shared with directors, producers, etc. 99% of the times I have to use an external program to convert it to a much smaller size. It would not be too hard (I think) to add a few format options, so we can have some control on the size of the exported video.

Do you have any specific settings? In regards to pixel, how many? For bitrate, which ones? Anything else beyond those?

Not really, that’s should be decided but whoever implements this. Often video converters have settings like “Quality”, “FPS”, “Audio codec”, but it doesn’t matter much to me, I am more concerned about the size of the video file. Currently even a short video cue is so big that, apart from taking a lot of space, it cannot be shared on WHATTSAPP, and when using an ONLINE drive it takes a lot of space.

Call me crazy but my knowledge of Whatsapp is super limited. What’s the maximum file size for this app? Is there a specific codec that must be used for this app?

It is 180MB. Most codecs are fine, never had an issue (Whattsapp converts it an reduce it to its standard automatically)

Often requested over the years… yet to be realised..

Right now, I’d say just get on with your life - use whatever’s needed to get the job done. In terms of workflow efficiency, I’ve experience of a third party app called ER Media Toolkit

ER Media ToolKit - Home - AudioSpot - CreativeTools

There are free trials and you don’t need the ‘full Pro package/bundle’ as it were - the cheaper ‘Essentials’ option may suffice.!

Your video output can be pre-set for the desired format (and file size etc) - no extra transcoding needed each time. It’s a simple process to just ‘rinse and repeat’ with your different audio mixes.

Requires an iLok account.

Another route to consider is called VidPlayVST

VidPlayVST.com - Home

Slightly cheaper option. Its just a normal VST3 plugin (to host/playback videos of all types and formats), bypassing Cubase’s built in player and has an accompanying free ‘Renderer’ applet, for when you want to create your output, with your new audio.

And of course, another popular choice, Shutter Encoder

Shutter Encoder - Encoder|Converter video FREE PC|Mac

No doubt, you’ve found (and used) others…

Anyway, some food for thought.

Good luck.!

(PS:- SB probably won’t be changing anything their end, anytime soon IMHO. They have to consider how any updates made will be affected across all of the apps that use the same video engine, very carefully. So, its a l-o-o-o-n-g process..).

Had to laugh at this, in a sickly fashion.
