VST Connect Pre-Release 5.6.10

Hi,

As of October 6, 2025, the only way to connect the host to the VST Connect Performer is through an ID and key generated for each session.
Therefore, the Steinberg ID login and the “Find User/Friends” network feature have been removed from VST Connect.

These changes take effect with Version 5.60.10, which is available for download.

Please note that this is a Pre-Release, so install it with care. The update will be pushed to the Steinberg Download Assistant (SDA) soon.
If you want to continue working without the removed feature, you may wish to install it now.

Have a nice day,
Michael.

Sounds like a good move from a privacy perspective. Will download and try it as soon as I can!

Dear Steinberg Support! I depend on VST Connect for my professional remote recordings and 5.60.10 is totally buggy. No matter if it’s running on Nuendo 13 or 14. I could establish connection, but whatever channel or driver I chose, I could not get any mic signal from the Performer side. Furthermore, there were no channel names which makes even more confusing not really knowing which channel is for sound and which for mic signal.
Anyway, I could’n work with it like I was used to with 5.5 and 5.6. Should I get back to the previous version? Or Is there going to come a bug fixed version very soon?
Been a VST-C user since the ADR support and I’m really appreciated for immediate help. Thanks

We did not change anything except for removing the no more supported login procedure. We nevertheless suggest for you to uninstall the new version and install the public one again, if it works fine for you.

Hey, thanks for the fast reply. I’ll keep trying and otherwise I’ll get back to the previous version. Thank you!

Just wanted to give a brief report. The New Version worked perfectly - BUT - only in Nuendo 13. In Nuendo 14 the GUI is incomplete and VSTC is quite buggy.

New version working fine in Cubase 14. I was just commenting to a friendly performer today how stable and easy things with VST Connect are for us now we’ve worked out how it goes. It really is a very clever tool!

Alan’s “Friendly performer” here. We used the new pre-release for a session this afternoon and it worked perfectly once we got past an initial synch problem (my MOTU 828 was very definitely not happy about the incoming audio, and it made that screechy feedback noise we reported last month until I used CueMix 5 to change the buffer size to 2048, at which point it synchronised successfully and remained synchronised when I set the buffer back to 1024 and even down to 512).

And the software continued to work solidly for the rest of our session: a good hour or so. The “rehearse” button in particular met a need we didn’t know we had, until we had it. Very impressed with how well everything works.

Has anyone been able to successfully connect within an existing project that used the previous version of Connect successfully? i’ve tried out the pre-release with Nuendo 12 and it was extremely buggy. From being unable to enable record (greyed out) on tracks using Connect as the input, to outright crashing Nuendo :man_shrugging:

I did use an older project with the new Connect. It wanted to do a VST Connect repair on my project when I opened it after that all was well.
