VST Live 3.0.38 Precount Enabled Save

Would it be possible to have precount in the metronome save in the position when the save button pressed, instead of it always being disabled when a project is opened?

So, is this not possible??? Haven’t heard anything

Hi! Maybe the question is not clear. I have precounts for some songs and disabled for another ones. All saved, and recalled.

What is your experience?

Mine is not saving. I’m on the latest version of VST.

I just checked with the latest version, and everything gets saved and reloaded as expected.

Have you tried with a new, empty project? And, maybe that’s important, too: You’re on Mac or Windows (Mac here)?

Precount only saves if metronome is off. The problem with this configuration is there is no audible precount only visual. So, what am I missing? in version 3.0.30 VST would save precount on with metronome on.

This change was introduced in version 3.0.31. So how do I get an audible precount without turning the metronome and precount on every time I open a project.

let me return here for a second. I my undersanding, also in my daily practice:
if no METRO for the given song, no audible Precount. So in every single song where I need precount in my IEM, I enable METRO. METRO is doing the “CLICK-click-click-clik” in pre also. Makes this explanation sense?

That makes sense for me.

In case a precount click is needed and should than be off, make an automation, which mutes the metronome after the precount. So, if a metronome is needed anywhere in a song, even it is for one bar, turn it on and work with mute/unmute.

Wow, that’s a lot of work for my project which has about 80 songs. What I ask for worked so well in version 3.0.30. I don’t understand why this was changed???

Also, I don’t see a way to automate the metronome???

If I understand what you’re saying; With precount on and metronome with a 2 bar precount for 4/4 time signature I will get click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click in my IEM. This is how VST works right now, except I have to set precount on every time I open my project because VST does not save it. What I am looking for is to have VST save this configuration.

ahh, ok, ok. Then we need to find why not saved on your system. You’re using 3.0.42, right (btw working me problem free long-long time ago, so no worries, it should and will work normally, you seem to do everything correctly).

Can you put together a nothing, empty, test project metro + precount enabled? Maybe one of us here in the forum can crosscheck the un-saved state to be sure if it’s global or local issue. hm?

Ah, now I see what you mean. And you are right. It doesn’t save the enabled state on my side too. Exactly, it is activated after start, but get disabled during preload, what it shouldn’t (3.0.42). I’m on MacOS, maybe there is a difference between win and mac.

I’m on Windows 11, it does the same as Mac

Since FalFango can replicate the issue, do you still need a test project?

To narrow this bug down. Precount enable is saved, so that is not the issue, but during preload it becomes deactivated.

This is what is happening; if precount is enabled, when you enable metronome VST disables precount.

But if metronome is already enabled and then I enable precount. Everything works fine.

The problem is you can save these settings, but as soon as you reopen the project, precount gets disabled because the metronome is enabled.

As I see…
COUNT IN is for recording.
PREROLL is for playing.
PRECOUNT makes Metronome audible only the specified time (count of bars) before the position you want to record or play.

I would say that the options could be reduced by 33% because Count In does the same as Preroll. And you cannot record track without playing it.

And yes - PRECOUNT isn’t saved if Metronome was on. Here is the question - what it can precount if there is no Metronome active? Silence? You tap your foot on the floor, and the group members look at you (your foot)

I’m not sure what I am missing, when I turn on count in I don’t get a count in before the track starts. If I turn on precount with metronome I get a count in (precount) before the track starts. So if I set preroll bars to 2 bars for a 4/4 time signature I get a 2 bar count in before the track starts and then the click/metronome turns off.

To your point: “PRECOUNT makes Metronome audible only the specified time (count of bars) before the position you want to record or play.” This is exactly what I am looking for and VST does this, except it does not save these settings.
