Hallo
Ich bin das erste Mal im Forum. Bin seit Jahren Nutzer von Cubase, aktuell V13.
Vor kurzem hab ich VST Live Pro 2 zugelegt, Version 2.0.2.140, um es mit meiner kleinen Band zu nutzen. Die Band : 2 Gitarristen, 1 Bassist, Drums usw. vom Computer, Mischpult Soundcraft UI24R.
Das VST Live schien mir laut Ankündigung zur Erledigung folgende Aufgaben geeignet:

  • Setlisten zu bilden, die leicht umzusortieren sind → funkioniert
  • Midi Befehle in jedem Song an ein Line 6 Helix LT zu senden,
    zur Auswahl der Presets für jeden Song → funktioniert
  • abspielen wav - Files für jeden Song und Stop am Liedende → funktioniert
    Nun möchte ich noch pdf-Dateien mit den Chords, Tabs usw. anzeigen.
    Das habe ich noch nicht hinbekommen.
    Es gibt den VST Viewer. Damit soll man pdf-Dateien laden und anzeigen.
    Was ich nicht gefunden habe, ist wie man z.B. zur nächsten Seite wechselt.
    Unter Modules habe ich den VST Viewer angegeben (neuste Version). Wenn ich den Viewer öffne (kleines e rechts), öffnet sich zwar ein Panel und ich kann über OPEN eine pdf-Datei laden.
    Aber :
    Mit den START, PREV, NEXT (alle not set) und LEARN (Midi) komm ich überhaupt nicht zurecht.
    Damit kann man doch zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt im Song zur nächsten Seite blättern ohne irgendwelche Tasten zu drücken. Richtig ?
    Woher kommen die Befehle dafür ?
    Wie ist ihr Aufbau ?
    Die Tutorials in youtube sagen zwar, da es diese Funktionen gibt, aber praktische Beispiele finde ich nicht.
    Übrigens Ist das Manual zu VST Live nicht sehr hilfreich. Da werden an vielen Stellen immer wieder die Save, Load usw. Funktionen beschrieben, aber wie man den Viewer Modul zu laufen bringt – nichts.
    Vielleicht hat jemand ein kleines Beispiel, welches diese Funktionen enthält.

Hi,

let’s get a VST Viewer configuration to use MIDI events

  • to go to the START page of your PDF
  • to go to the NEXT page of your PDF

Let’s start

  1. Start VL
  2. Select MODULES and load VST Viewer
  3. Select MIDI Input for the the VST Viewer

  1. Open the Editor of the VST Viewer
  2. Select LEARN Button and select START
  3. Hit the C3 Key of your MIDI Keyboard. Now START can be triggered with your C3 Key (MIDI=60)
  4. Select now NEXT and hit C5 (MIDI=84). Now it’s possible to show the next page with C5

Now we want to trigger NEXT and START on a timeline. For this we use the internal virtual MIDI Cable to send MIDI events from a MIDI Track to the VST Viewer.

  1. Configure the Module to use “VM In 8” (MIDI Cable #8)

  1. Select TRACKS, Add a MIDI Track and select “VM Out 8” (MIDI Cable #8) as an Output.

  1. Create a MIDI Clip from 1.1 to 2.1, open the MIDI Editor and add a MIDI C3 event at 1.1.0

  1. Create a seconds MIDI Clip from 3.1 to 4.1 and add a MIDI C5 event at 3.1

  2. Rewind Transport to 1.1 and Start it.

Now the PDF will show Page_1 at Position=1.1.0. When the Transport crosses 3.1 the next page of your PDF will be shown.

Hi @Spork, excuse my stupid question (I am not that deep into Midi) but can this be done without a Midi-Keyboard? I am a Bass-Player without any keyboards and I would love to trigger “next page” for the VST Viewer.
Can you please give me a hint to achieve this without a keyboard?

Thanks to @fkalmus I am now able to “automate” the Page-turn in the Viewer via Midi-commands. That gives me “Hands/Feet” free :wink:
But the Viewer is not updated when the Song changes. I have to manually re-open the Viewer in the regarding Song to see the PDF-File. Is there a workarround available that updates the Viewer so that I dont have to do something between the Songs?

I’m glad that works for u now :smiling_face: okay, do u see the small icons in the upper right corner of the module? One is for auto reopen. Did u try that one?

Hi, ok, the original “Store Viewer State with Part” Button is now named “Open Editor on Activation” (Tooltip) that does the job with every Song this button was activated! This is good to know.

The state is only active where you selected it and not overall!

Hi @Detgyver , yes and no, but yes in your situation. If u’re using 1pc of Global VST Viewer module, would need to set it once. But you have independent and multiple instances of VST Viewer(s) song by song.

Are this settings saved with the “Song” or to the project?

Oh hold on a bit… You can try to keep one only GLOBAL VST VIEWER MODULE / Project. Then one “Learn #CC” is enough too. Then while navigating between songs, you can load different scores for each song.

But if you prefer to load multiple instances of VST Viewer modules song by song, you can save your preset and load it to another vstviewer-module iterations.

Hi @fkalmus , that sounds good, but i am not so much into the “global vst viewer module” handling. I dont understand to manage this, the manual doesnt explain this complex use. But well - it sounds like the rigth solution.
