jusat wondering if anyone can tell me what these are? If I should be worried? And how to get rid of them?

It’s a signpost – this one is a time signature signpost, that’s telling you the prevailing time signature (4/4) and its beat grouping (quarter notes, in the pattern of 1+1+1+1).
Signposts appear for items that exist, but don’t otherwise jump out or make themselves visually known – like a hidden time signature. Or more likely in this context, an explicit single barline that you’ve input at that position.
If you’ve already got a 4/4 time signature at the start of this flow, you can safely select the barline or signpost and delete it, which should reset it back to a standard non-signposted single barline.
Or you can just hide them with View->Signposts and toggle the hide signposts option.
