Just want to see cubase catch up on the features that most other daws have but cubase still doesn’t have them.
Cubase is one of the most expensive daws and is the one that’s most outdated
just interested to know…how long we might have to wait until Steinberg finishes the VST Plugin manager that they started and promoted as a selling point on the tin back in C7 and allows you to rename VST3 plugins yourself to something other than what the plugin manufacturer decreed it shall henceforth be named in a moment of genius eg "Macromediocre Freeware Sample Technologi… (Rest of name Truncated by mixer slot size).
I mean seriously. I have to click and open every SINGLE plugin by this company to figure out if its an EQ or a Compressor or a Mr Fusion Reactor plugin that i used in that slot because looking down the plugin slot list shows the company name all the way looking the same, as the actual specifics of the type of plugin was brilliantly positioned by the programmer at the very end of the elongated name “Macromediocre Freeware Sample Technologies Supersonic EQ” which we never get to see in Cubase slots properly
its not really Steinbergs fault that some companies name their plugins like this and fall foul to this problem. But it does happen in reality and hopefully SB also see it needs to be addressed. I would like to be able to rename and fix this manufacturers mistake to “MFST-S EQ” or similar so i can actually see its an EQ in a slot and i dont have to open on my desktop all 8 instances of the companies plugins just to see finally which one is the EQ.
You can rename a VST2 .dll file name and its name changes but with a VST3 plugin, renaming the file name makes no difference. The name that Cubase uses is embedded into the file header, as per Steinbergs own VST3 specs…so in a way Steinberg has caused this problem when it took the control away from us to rename. As more and more plugins move to VST3 this problem is just becoming worse and worse.
(i am so exhausted just writing this post having to explain this seemingly simple workflow killer that is apparently too complicated to be addressed that my head hurts)
Oh, I see, cuz I have another bug, in Cubase my mouse randomly clicks itself few times with no reason, especially in direct offline processor and media bay.
Mostly UI fixes. I do feel that the user experience has fallen through the floor with v10. Currently I have to stick with v9.5 and unless v10.5 or v11 really pulls itself together this will be my last Cubase version (and I’ve been with it since Atari STE).
Please please please:
User adjustable transport bar size/shape - user should be able to make it 1 line tall, 2 lines, 10 lines, whatever.
Bring back right-click menu
Fix hitpoint detection - make it as accurate as C9.5
Fix skinny scroll bars - horrible to use right now.
Complete GUI overhaul - current contrasty scheme hurts eyes. Dark text on grey please. Plus mixer page just looks a mess.
Then:
5. NEW FEATURE - Triplet snap/quantise
6. NEW FEATURE - MOVABLE MIX CHANNELS!
Also, when adding a Group Channel, yes, we can move it on the project page, but, this is not reflected in the mixer. It remains at the end of the chain in the mixer.
2 lanes for the mixer names and a larger name window/box !!!
The ability to 1 click transpose without maintaining the timing, traditional pitch shift. This is how it should be when MUSICAL MODE isn’t activated, and essential for those of us who place drum hits directly on the time line. I don’t want an algo messing with things. We could also, shift the sizing first, increasing/decreasing the pitch, then use the algo for different approaches to get to where we need to be.
I only hope the resizable right-click toolbox will be back.
The fixed one-row toolbox in Cubase 10 doesn’t work for me, not in Arrange Window nor in Key Editor. (more mouse-movements)
I prefer working with the toolbox like in all Cubase vesions before.
In Preferences - Editing - Tools I always had enabled “Pop-up Toolbox on Right Click”.
