This is only a guess, but I believe there are new features for grouping and overlapping of audio parts?
I don’t know if they are purely visual or have anything to do with smoother audio playback but we should find out soon I guess.

If that’s true, I’ll have to skip V6 and any following version without transparent events.
It’s mandatory for manually aligning audio to the grid !

It looks like it is indeed gone.
However, there is a new custom color system that looks fairly comprehensive. I didn’t see alpha blend though (which would have let you set the event to completely transparent)
You should be able to make a background color that blends tightly so that you can have that good contrast for the manual grid alignment. I’m hoping it’s a non-issue … but again, will have to wait and see.
It seems they also forgot the ‘wave image style’ dropdown 
I need my waveforms “Solid and framed” !!
