I was at a music quiz around 3-4 years ago, quizmaster’s opening round was ‘intros’. He explained that he’d play a short clip and we had to write down the artist and song title. And, would get a point for each.
Then, as a tester to check everyone understood he played ‘25 or 6 to 4’, asked teams to write their answer on the card and put it face down- kept stressing that it wasn’t for points. Everyone turned their cards on the reveal, and only two teams got it. They got clapped.
He then acted in surprise and said he didn’t expect anyone to get it correct, and those who did should sit outside for the first round to save others from embarrassment - They left quite smug looking at the rest of the room.
After the door shut quizmaster said on the mic “I thought they were weirdos when i laid eyes on them…”. Was so funny, the embarrassment when he called them back in really set the theme for the night.
Had never heard the song before, as I don’t think they were so big in the UK as in the US. But man, that intro - no shame in knowing that.

Strange, I was just thinking that you have trouble reasoning this conversation, what is not announced, does not exist, if they say there is no info of future updates, is what it is, so for now. I can see you love to assume things, but you should not just assume that UAD “will” make something as VST3 versions of their plug-ins, the company exists since 1958, and was re-founded in 1999, haven’t they enough experience or enough time to decide about what file extensions is best to elaborate? VST3 came out in 2008, just 15 years ago… So I will ask you a question, what information do you have about the VST3 file extension used via external DSP units? have you tried to research it or have you wondered why commonly in these cases is preferred VST2 even in 2022?
On the other hand, I’m afraid to tell you that VST3 request has been taking place and requested by UAD users since 2010…

Drew’s answers don’t mean anything either, those are generic replies, however you mentioned some replies above that UAD “will” develop VST3… So, I wonder if this is another thing you assume or if you can prove it with basis and facts, considering that if there is no information, there is no official plans related, have you ever worked for a company? I just wonder… so back to the thread in regard the latest reply from Drew’s in the screenshots you posted, between considering and planning, there is a major abyss, its simple, you can’t just sit and assume there are “plans”, not for the users, unless you are part of the UAD company to be able to make an statement like “they will”, can you clearly understand this? Is not so complex.
I’m sorry to tell you, it’s been 15 years since VST3 appeared… as you may know, it is not something that is being requested to UAD recently, it has been happening since then. So, you can keep waiting another 15 years, or understand that once Cubase stops supporting VST2, you have 2 options, forget about your expensive equipment and plug-ins and wait several years to see if VST3 is coming, or stop updating Cubase…
