Why SO negative?

BTW: The trial version will be available in early December.

Steinberg should be more active here with us. And not just release something buggy and then dont care.

Seriously? There’s a developer replying right above you multiple times

I saw that 2 seconds after my post

Well, let’s say I’m from the Cubase team, but I’m not a developer.

If you’re here gathering intel and feedback, you are developing imo :bulb:

And he is not replying, remember this is the problem. We need someone to actually answer the questions.

The whole Coding team from steinberg should be in here crunching bugs imo.

I don’t think that you need a developer to answer your questions, but someone that will look at your bug reports and fix them. I understand that you are having trouble with the behavior of the key editor in the lower zone. The description with the youtube link that you have posted helps a lot. It has been forwarded to the team and a dev will have a look. It’s about 7:45pm in Germany. I am writing this from home. Do you really think that I am a part of the problem?

“Do you really think that I am a part of the problem?”

Hardly! You are part of the solution. Keep up the good work Matthias.

  1. but it would be so amazing if they could just be a bit more prudent. I see a lot of ‘‘I’ll buy it in 6 months when…’’ types comments, but I know I prefer taking advantage of a full cycle if it’s going to stay the early thing to be exposed to it for as long as I can and master it as well as I can.

  2. That’s the workaround, yes

  3. But sincerely we really shouldn’t have to do that unless we beta test…

  4. See that’s the irony. Cubase is by far my favorite DAW, and the one I know the best, even with the roller-coaster ride it’s been. But when I talk to people about it? I talk about in respectful terms mostly, but I am not a very good liar either. I can get a bit emotional

And to be honest? When I am asked by newcomers which DAW they should use, I will often recommend logic and reaper instead. Unless I see that the person is patient, and is knowledgeable with troubleshooting. Otherwise I feel like I’d be recommending a poisoned apple, and I know for a lot of people if it doesn’t work like intended they’re just going to give up.

Some companies I go on and represent like a salesperson … Cuckoos and other opensofts, klevgrand, valhalla, nintendo, RME, etc etc. I dream about that stuff. It’s simple… they get it RIGHT every time (with the occasional exception, of course… everybody makes mistakes) , no matter how ambitious the product is.

I hope I don’t come out as pessimistic. I am actually in the process of trying to become a beta tester. I know I would care much less about the quirks if I don’t have to pay for it.

They say “you can’t please every one” but SB is trying to do it and actually they can do it in the world of software. Customization, customization guys, customization will save us all! Someone on this forum said “imagine how many preferences must exist to please all of you!” yes, guys, many many many customizable settings must be created and context menu is among of them. The gratest advantage of software is its “softness”, so why SB uses this feature so poorly?
As for me I like innovations very much but I don’t like changes, especially those of them which destroy my workflow or my favorite looking of UI.

I’m for huge Menu of preferences with Search field.

I think life is a lot less stressful when we detach ourselves personally from something as transitory as a piece of software. Not saying that you, or anyone else specific in this forum is overly personally attached, but just in general, I think practicing detachment and acceptance of the reality of the situation is much more healthy than fretting about it excessively. And then using all that extra energy – the energy we might otherwise expend in frustration – to some creative good purpose… like writing music, for example! Well, that’s the lesson I’ve had to learn in my life journey, which has had so much stress that anything that Steinberg could do wouldn’t amount to a drop in the ocean TBH. Although it’s tempting sometimes to get caught up in the latest outrage, and yes I’ve been guilty of overreacting, but truth is, I’ve had to mellow out a bit and look for other perspectives just to find some peace.

Okay, let me phrase it another way since I’m slipping too far into philosophy-mode.

Here are the facts:

Cubase releases usually don’t get really solid until about the “dot 30” patch release, which takes about 6 months. It’s just the way it is. Good or bad. Now sometimes they get there sooner, sometimes longer. I am hoping they get there sooner on this one… and Cubase 10 is indeed very promising. I bought it. I like it. Kudos to Steinberg for giving me enough confidence to open my wallet once again. But let’s be realistic. Usually around Spring-Summer is when you’ll be getting a solid version of the product that they announced and released back in November or December!

Now we can all be very upset about that, as I have been in various years past. OR we can accept the reality and deal with it however makes us comfortable. Don’t buy it. Or buy it. Wait for it. Or be an early adopter. Complain about it. Defend it. Curse at it. Sing its praises. Everyone has their approach, so go for it. And more power to you for wanting to be a beta tester. I’m sure you’ll do a great job at it and Steinberg should take you on, just for your enthusiasm. The only thing I hope is that Steinberg is now LISTENING. Just listening. That’s all. If they are listening, then that’s half the battle. And there’s good evidence they ARE listening with Cubase 10 release. And maybe, just maybe, they are changing… I will hope… a little.

But whatever happens, may I humbly suggest to consider not taking it personally. The power of detachment will save years of stress in life and you and I can choose how much (or little) to care about something like this. Ultimately, another great truth in the DAW world is that there are other DAWs out there in the market… and some of them are really great too. No reason you can’t use more than one of them. No reason you can’t wait it out for 6 months on Cubase and see if Steinberg fixes the things that are bothering you. Don’t let Steinberg (or any other developer) control YOUR schedule or energy or pocketbook. I’ve got colleagues and buddies using ancient versions of DAWs making better music than me, and the final truth is often the hardest to truly accept – that the real power is not the DAW, but you – the artist, the creator, the producer, the composer. The DAW is just a transitory tool.

Hi Matthias I have NEVER said that you was a part of the problem. I said that the lack of answers IS the problem. It takes very little effort to know that this is the ONE biggest problem with the support structure. That we - the customers, who pay for it all - don’t think that we get through to Steinberg. Look at this Cubase 10 | Page 27 | VI-CONTROL
and this: The Sound Board - Login
I’m very satisfied with the answer you gave me now, that the issue with the Key Editor has been forwarded to the team. I will save some of my joy to the - hopefully - forthcoming update where this issue is taking care of. And by the way I write this from my home too.

Well yes but to be fair I’m here to answer the OP’s question.

Than I’m arguing that the “stability “cycle could be better, and certainly turn the whole process a more positive experience.

But like you I updated 10 on the early side because I felt like the advantages would outweight the disadvantages.

9.5.41 is stable for me yet I will start all new projects in 10.

I’m not the one starting the angry threads calling steinberg names and arguing that it’s 100% unusable! Read my posts in this thread I say plentiful times that I prefer cubase to other daws even though it’s the most bipolar relationship with a software in my life at the moment.

Regarding using previous versions… The thing is , it’s less expensive to upgrade every year than it is to wait out for the next “breakthrough” . And frankly I’ll take any performance or workflow improvement I can get .

It’s not that idealistic to ask for products to work as advertised on day 1 … I

Why so negative?!
I am Cubase user since Cubase VST on 1998 and I don’t remember case that after update Cubase is not possible to use for me at all. Totally and generally…
Now with Cubase 10 it is This case…
I am fully into Acustica Nebula world, - these are around 90% of my all plugins for mixing, and now I can’t use Acustica N4 due serious HiDPI graphic GUI problems, when plugin is not scaled correctly(many threads about these HiDPI problems here) For windows it is possible to uncheck this option , but for Mac not…
I think situation when You pay and cant to use new version is argument to be so negative, not…?

I agree the negativity on these forums is ridiculous. If the hate for Cubase is so strong, why use the programme at all? There are plenty of other DAWs or means to record music. The DAW is a tool, get some perspective ffs.

I disagree. You can love your country, band, sports team for instance, and still criticize it if it’s headed in the wrong direction, which I, and many others think Cubase is. They should listen to the customer pretty seriously, in fact. (I do agree that some requests on here are pretty ridiculous though)

The DAW is great. The support and dev need to step up their game.

In RVP’s amazing user manual (best written I’ve ever seen) there are very detailed instructions on how to handle just that situation, and the results are fine.

You mention it’s not even close to a full functioning DAW, which is true. However it does much more than simply align - its tuning algorithm is arguably better than VariAudio (2.0), and it has doubling functionality that is fantastic (e.g., adds microvariations in pitch and timing to the doubled voice, fully user-controllable, for realism).

It can also tune/time multiple tracks in seconds. That’s really the key thing with RVP - the process is automated, there’s no need to “grab edges and drag”.

Hopefully Cubase will catch up soon, or maybe it has?, it didn’t look like it from the C10 vids.
