Will anyone miss Waves?

The friend is always a professional who spends thousands too, why can’t people have poor friends in bedroom studios that experience such hearsay events?
It’s still just as valid.

A lot to see on YouTube ( I know) , but I like to share just this great one from Darren Jones:

DJ’s right , the masses now control the market , i think corporations are now quaking in their boots having to be careful on which direction they take . “Power to the people” as Wolfie Smith once said.

Waves Update Plan (WUP) is now back for purchase. Surprisingly, the $240 price cap is still the same it seems.

I think Im going to ditch Waves altogether and not even use the ones i already purchased…theyve been nothing but a headache at this point…guess ill stick with Cubase plugins…yikes.

Actually, I was watching Dom Sigalas’ vids about Cubase effects, and, man, they have come a long way.

Some of them are as good if not better than 3rd party plugins!!!

You’re right @somecomposer, the stock Cubase plugins are definitely excellent and I believe there are guys at Steinberg who could design some great plugins that could compete with companies like UAD, Waves, PA and others.

Why doesn’t Steinberg offer this kind of products like Fairchild, Manley, etc. type plugins which would not be included with Cubase, but which could be sold separately. These Vintage plugins are popular with users. It is generally the authenticity of these products that has made Waves and UAD plugins so popular with the music community.

Devices related to the 60s and 70s marked the imagination of musicians like the music that was created at those times. For my part, at Waves, UAD or whatever the company, when there is a plugin that refers to these eras, I am immediately challenged. At Waves, that’s what interests me, for the rest there is some good stuff, but a lot of redundancy and stuff that I consider unnecessary for my needs.

Steinberg should test the market with a product related to these eras that would attract attention and shake competitors…

Why not?

Arguably the market is pretty oversaturated with competent plugin makers - so just because you can do something well, doesn’t mean you’ll make meaningful money at it.

@Nico5, You are absolutely right, there is no shortage of companies that offer these types of selections with widely varying qualities.

It was just an idea that could have had some interest, but it seems that is not the case.

:smiling_face_with_tear:

Good point, but I think they have their hands full with Cubase,Dorico etc.

@CitizenChaz

just a quick note to thank you for making me try again to get my V9 and V13 Waves plugins working simultaneously.

It looks like Waves had indeed fixed that issue since last time I tried. So today I tried again, and yes indeed it works as you had mentioned it worked ok with you. It’s a little convoluted in comparison to the other plugin makers I use, but using the offline installer technique twice (once for each generation of plugins) it ended up working fine.

So now they all work - and the plugin hoarder in me is happy again and my image of Waves is less tainted than before. – If I’ll ever use their plugins for future projects remains to be seen. But at least now I could re-open older projects with Waves plugins without having to re-create some of the FX in those projects with different plugins.

So thanks again for posting about your experience!
