Is anyone here running the CC1 with a Mac? I have a bug where if I hide a folder from the arrangement window with key command, not from list, it crashes Nuendo with no warnings. Anyone else?
Wanted to order one. But just saw the CC1 Video from Chris Selim. Could not believe the user page buttons, where you can assign custom key commands, always show white text on white background icons (!?!). The icons are all the same and you cannot change them. How could that be approved as usable…
Can you confirm? Or has this been updated in the meantime?
Yep, that’s the way it is for now. On the plus side, Yamaha tech support responded to my hiding folder crash right away. I’m sure things will get better over time.
Hi,
got mine today. Hardware is great in my opinion. Customization not really possible. Biggest issue I saw is the very big steps of the knobs (e.g. 30Hz steps for EQ).
Had also a first look on the technical things and software infrastructure. Totally different I thought it works…
I hope Yamaha understood critics an fixes thing soon
Yes, correct the knobs stop size are unusable since the beginning… ![]()
Where did you find a contact for cc1 support? Just got one and it’s very nice on the hardware side but the software is lacking.
I just sent an email to Yamaha tech support at techsupport@yamaha.com. There should be an update with bugs fixes within a month or so from what they told me.
Thanks!
Just got this back from support regarding customizing the buttons and having finer control when using the knobs. (pretty fast response!)
"Further customization/configuration of the buttons and other controls is indeed planned for an upcoming update to Control Center, although I don’t have an exact date for when that will be out just yet. Depending on how you’re using it, there’s of course more configuration available in the Stream Deck banks, but I know that doesn’t solve all needs and cases.
For functions that support it, pressing in on the encoder knobs while turning it will give you finer control than turning the knob normally does. If you still find that that isn’t doing quite what you need, or find things it’s not working on that it feels like it should, let me know and I’m happy to pass that feedback on to the development team to consider.
Thanks for choosing Yamaha–don’t hesitate to reach out if we can help with anything else, and have an awesome weekend!"
My issue was just a bug fix, glad other changes are planned. And yes, their support is awesome.
So far, however, for the CC1, Yamaha has only made minor improvements until now, with only one exception.
The CC1 was launched earlier this year without a fully developed software, and that hasn’t changed even after all these months until now.
Actually, I don’t think the Stream Deck integration in the CC1 makes much sense.
Elgato is just releasing the Stream Deck + XL with 36 buttons and 6 encoders and - it’s 100% sure to be a hit for Cubase, too!!
So I think, at some point, you’ll surely realize that the CC1 as a all-in-one device with an integrated small Stream Deck hinder your workflow more than it helps, when you also use a Stream Deck + XL.
There’s a new firmware available. It fixed my crashing folders but nothing new as far as customizing the buttons.
lol. only one bug fixed.
Well, maybe there’ll be another update with a bug fix in 2027.

I’m aware of the pitfalls and still ordered the Yamaha CC1 because there’s potential.
(And as my “Houston, we have a problem” substitute: my beloved Mackie Control is due for retirement.)
So, what’s on my wishlist? This: https://youtu.be/vKoqE5Xs2JA?si=yJwJnM5AAevPS8Yb
- Improve the Yamaha CC1 software to post beta.
- Make Stream Deck page functions work with the jog wheel, just like the jog wheel works with an external Stream Deck unit. I’m talking about things like “fade in to cursor”: you press a button, turn the jog wheel, and the fade follows the movement.
- Please (!!!) take a look at the edit and jog section of the Nuage controller. Even if 12 buttons aren’t enough, make the jog wheel combinable and usable with other commands the way the Nuage system does it.
- For the next hardware revision… please give it a larger jog wheel.
I would add :
- Make the ‘Cubase/Nuendo’ dedicated profile extensible and not limited to the small 4 actual pages.
- Make the Cubase/Nuendo pages as extensible and manageable as the stream deck ones (jump to button, go back, etc…)
- Make a dedicated CC1 Topic in Hardware (which should not be limited to Steinberg Hardware but include Yamaha).
Thanks
That will never be possible because there aren’t enough buttons in the transport section of the CC1.
I expected more Nuage style features in a 2026 package when I impulsively bought the CC1. I thought at the least we would be able to enable commands for the little knobby wheel with the buttons Avid Dock/Eucon style. Sent it back and dusted off the ol’ Avid Transport for wheely moves. Best of luck to ye!
I gotta be honest, this controller (almost) gives me second hand embarassment.
How can a company so big fumble a release this much?
You realize this was not invented for Cubendo. When Yamaha released it at Namm, there was no Cubendo remotely in sight at the booth upstairs. The unit was connected to a 61 key keyboard. Great pr posters on the wall about it…but the Namm units (2 of them as I remember) were at one of the keyboard corner areas.
I figure Yamaha will continue tweaking the thing over time to suit whatever it is that Yamaha wants to address in the market.
It’s their dime.
There are reportedly new updates available for the CC1.
Can anyone who (still) has a CC1 tell us what new features are now available with these updates and share their honest opinion about them?
Just bug fixes as far as I’m aware.
