Bug ? Logical Project Editor Supur Operation

    • Bearbeitung = Insert Bypass
    • Parameter 1 = Umschalten

Hi,

This is an English forum, please.

If I understand you right, it works for me here. If I set the very same Project Logical Preset, all Insert Bypass are disabled (even on the Instrument track, even if the MIDI Inserts are Bypassed and Audio Inserts are not bypassed).

Hi Martin sorry about that.

I have translated my issue for you

Project Logical Editor Bug on Track Operation Setting.

Unexpected behaviour when changing parameter 1 value of the “Track Operation” option

The following 3 parameter 1 options are available on this setting.

  • Enable
  • Disable
  • Toggle

My expectation would be the parameter 1 value “Toggle” changes the respective active state of the Channel inserts.

The Option Enable to me means that the insert is turned on.

The Option Disable to me means the inserts are turned off

On instrument tracks, the parameter 1 value toggle unfortunately only toggles the MIDI-Insert-effect on / off but it does not toggle the Audio-insert- effect on/off .

Please mind that Instrument Tracks unlike the other Tracks in Cubase have both MIDI and Audio Inserts.

Other tracks only have one or the other.

Now the reason why I believe that the “project logical editor” does not work as intended is described below.

  • If I set the parameter1 value to toggle the audio insert effects on instrument are not toggled but the Midi-Insert-effects are.
  • If I set the parameter 1 value to Enabled both Audio-insert-effect and MIDI-insert-effect are turned on. And when set to Disabled both are turned off.

My question is if Enable and Disable turn on/of all Insert types on Instrument and Sample Tracks, shouldn’t the Toggle option do the same? With the only difference being that it starts from the State the Inserts are set to at the time of application.

Instructions for reproducing this behaviour:

  • Open a new project.
  • Add one of each track type to the project.
  • Open the “Project Logical Editor”
  • Load pre-set “Init”

In the upper window click on the plus symbol and set the following.

  • File Target = container type
  • Condition = Equal
  • Parameter 1 = track
  • Now click on the plus symbol in the lower window and set the following
  • Action Target = track operation
  • Operation = insert bypass
  • Parameter 1 = toggle

It should look like this:

With these settings now click on the Apply button.
You should see the following in your project Window

  • Now click the Apply button again
  • Now change the parameter 1 value in the lower window to Enabled and click on apply button
  • you should now see the following picture in the project window.

comparing both steps it is clear to see on both images that in one case all Inserts are deactivated and in the other the Audio-Insert-effects on the Instrument and Sample Track are left out!

Hi,

Thank you, now I can reproduce it.

Reported to Steinberg. Thank you.

Hi Martin

Release notes of 11.0.20 claim that my issue has been fixed and PLE now toggles instrument tracks as expected.

I Quote :

Using the Project Logical Editor to toggle “Track Operation: Inserts Bypass” now works correctly for all track types, e.g. on instrument tracks.

This is only true if the filter Target of the PLE matches my example given in this Post.

Changing the Filter Target to another Option results in the Same Issue for that filter.

Maybe you could point this out to Steinberg again. They need to look at all Filters and correct it for each one.

Thank you for your support.

Hi,

Could you give me an example, please?

Hi Martin,

Ok the Images below are the ones that have been fixed and now work.

  • File Target = container type
  • Condition = Equal
  • Parameter 1 = track
  • Now click on the plus symbol in the lower window and set the following.
  • Action Target = track operation
  • Operation = insert bypass
  • Parameter 1 = toggle or enable or disable

No matter what Parameter 1 Value I choose in the bottom section all Inserts are bypassed when applying the PLE.

Now compare the above behaviour to the one below and you will see that it has not been fixed on all Filter Target’s.

  • File Target = property
  • Condition = Property is set
  • Parameter 1 = Event is selected
  • Now click on the plus symbol in the lower window and set the following.
  • Action Target = track operation
  • Operation = insert bypass
  • Parameter 1 = toggle or enable or disable

In this case the images show that there is a difference between the toggle and the enable and disable setting of Parameter 1 in the lower section.
Only the toggle option is working correctly in this example!

The above is only an example of one other Filter Target. The error exists on all the other Filter Targets except if,

Filter Target = container Type

Steinberg needs to check all Filters for the same error.

Hi Martin,
was The example helpful and reproducible on your end ?

THX for looking into it.

Hi @Unoute,

Sorry for my delay. I have tried to replicate it here on my side. But it works as expected:

Filter Target
( Property | Property is set | event is selected )

Action Target
Track Operation | Insert Bypass | Toggle

Function
Transform

If I click Apply, the Insert Bypass of the Audio Insert is toggled.

Also this one works:

Filter Target
( name | Contains | Mystic ) // I'm using Mystic Instruments

Action Target
Track Operation | Insert Bypass | Toggle

Function
Transform

=> The Audio Insert becomes toggled.

Filter Target
( Color Name Is | Equal | Color 2 )

Action Target
Track Operation | Insert Bypass | Toggle

Function
Transform

=> The Audio Insert becomes toggled.

Filter Target
( Media Type Is | Equal | MIDI )

Action Target
Track Operation | Insert Bypass | Toggle

Function
Transform

=> The Audio Insert becomes toggled.

Tested in Cubase 11.0.20.371.

Hi Thanx for looking into it.

I guess my example was a bit confusing and misleading.
Yes all the toggle functions work!

But once you exchange toggle with Enable or disable the behavior Shows the error I mentioned above.

So if you change toggle to Enable and repeat your steps you will see that on Instrument and Sampler Tracks only the Midi Section. is bypassed

I also noticed the other day that.
If you klick the insert button with the mouse on an Instrument or Sample track it only turns off the Audio inserts only. This is how it should be!

But if you use the following filter below it turns off the Midi and audio inserts.

Filter Target
( Property | Property is set | event is selected )

Action Target
Track Operation | Insert Bypass | Toggle

Function
Transform

Hi,

The filter you sent in your last comment is working (and it’s one of the PLE, I sent).

Do you mean this?

Filter Target
( Property | Property is set | event is selected )

Action Target
Track Operation | Insert Bypass | Enable

Function
Transform

So it’s enabled instead of toggled?

Hi
Yes use enable insted of toggle for the bug report.

And for my example above where I comparing the filter to moseclick behavior on sample and instrument tracks use toggled.

Hi,

Sorry, which one exactly do you mean?

Hi Martin,
I ment this one in my last reply but it was not part of the original report as I only noticed it a few days ago.

Hi,

Do you mean in the MixConsole?

Hi Martin,

No I mean in the Project window.

Bypass Insert with Mouseklick => Results in this behavior see image below.

And using PLE => Results in this image below.

Hi,

OK, I see. This is something different and I’m going to handle this as another issue.

Please make a new topic and add the feature-request tag.

OK
Thx for taking the time to look into it much appreciated.
