The graphical performance on Mojave with 4K is worse than ever. I got 4-5 fps with a cpu utilization of about 20% (intel tool) and real-time jumping 5-10% with some spikes. If some MAC user expect performance boost with this release, dont. It is opposite. Even the display on my MCU is sluggish!
No, it’s not. Cubase X.5 versions are never free (like other Steinberg X.5 releases).
It’s a major new version (just not as major as a X.0 version, and therefore also cheaper).
You can see it as a “minor major version”, in between two even more major versions… like a half big release… It’s a paid update, but also with a minor price tag (usually around half) than major major versions.
I will not update before HiDPI scaling has been fixed for the Windows 10 version. This is crazy. I switched to Cubase 10 that I could not use because of the lack of scaling, and now 10.5 paid update comes out (that still does not fix the scaling). I have never bought any other audio software that I could not use, this is the first one. Steinberg is very slow with updates, almost looking like they are going to abandon the software. Where were 10.1, 10.2 etc? Directly to 10.5 with minimal changes. Other DAWs receive constant updates even between major versions. HiDPI scaling is a very fundamental feature that is required for the software to work on 4k screens. Very disappointing.
However all those added key command options and we still couldn’t get one for Freeze Track? Been hoping for this (and/or multi freeze option) for years now.
Here’s to being resigned another year and hoping it comes in 11.
Amazingly useful adds all the way around in 10.5 though. Thanks for the tools!
I’m interested in upgrading to 10.5. Will the new version overwrite v10 that I already have installed or will it install a completely different version?
