Great! I’ll have to add that to my ever growing tool box lol Thanks!
New import track and smart tool (like in protools) are lovely improvements. But if they not fixed VCA bug I will not upgrade:(
I’ve heard VCAs aren’t fixed

In short, they re-apply their offset if you go to automate a track that is already level-reduced by a VCA.
and then this one is just an annoying quirk.
I can not believe this one has not been fixed:
If you back up a project to a new folder, or prepare archive, sampler track file locations are not updated. ie. They are broken.
This means it is impossible to reliably back up your projects. I have dozens of projects which are broken because of this.
Steinberg has acknowledged this bug previously. I thought this would be a priority on the fix list.
Steve
I know this might not be the best solution, but you need to use ‘prepare archive’ in the Pool. :banghead

Hi Matthias, we have a major problem in Australia. We have not been able to download/use Download Assistant or the latest update. I tried downloading Cubase Pro 10.5 but was unsuccessful. Corrupted files message, the same with Download Assistant. This has been going on for about a month, other Australian users are having the same problem. Steinberg’s representatives in Australia provided a brief link to install 10.0.05. I have paid my money for the upgrade to 10.5 and would like to install this as soon as possible. This requires action ASAP, as there are a lot of Australian customers I am sure wanting to continue with Steinberg’s products. PLEASE HELP!
Larry
P.s, my computer is fully compatible with Steinberg products.
Same issue here. Cubase 10.0.50 and 10.5.0 does not work if you live in Australia

I’m interested in upgrading to 10.5. Will the new version overwrite v10 that I already have installed or will it install a completely different version?
New version.

Just did this, worked for me too though I had to run the Download Assistant from the .jar file in the installation directory as it wouldn’t launch otherwise
Nice update, thanks Steinberg! It would be great if some day, Steinberg enhanced track freezing. Multiple tracks, keyboard shortcuts to freeze and unfreeze. It’s something I do often, and yet, it’s cumbersome from a workflow stand-point. Perhaps I’m missing the obvious with the current product. It’s the one place where often I get slowed-down. That said, I do really appreciate the new features in 10.5. Having the .5 releases with targeted feature enhancements, is great compared to the past with one large release.
I like it! Well worth the $60 upgrade price IMO.

Download Assistant works ok for me here in Adelaide, it just took a while before the upgrade (10.5) showed up in the Steinberg shop.

This does not work. Prepare Archie copies external files to the project folder, but when you re-load the project the external files are loaded instead of the new ones. It is only Sampler Track files which are affected.
Sooooo, when will it be safe to download? From my experience Steinberg products are not usable until at least version X.X.30

Well, then wait till then…
Can anybody confirm if the right-click tools menu has been properly restored yet?
They kind of fixed it in an update to Pro 10 but it came as a ‘Tools’ sub menu on right-click as opposed to just having quick and easy access.
Oh… My… GOD!!!
Long track names now wrap to 2 lines in the mixer on windows 10!
That aside, this is a pretty good update all in all. I’m really digging the coloured tracks for the mixer and the combined selection tools.
Oh, and finally being able to export to video is a very welcome addition.
Well worth the upgrade price in my opinion

steinberg helpThere some know issue of course. Our support team has created knowledge base articles on some topics.
We also created a new feedback survey on Cubase 10.5. Your participation would be much appreciated and it helps us a lot to improve Cubase in your interest. Please take your time and check out Cubase 10.5 a couple of days and then let us know what you think. Also if you are considering not to update, please let us know why and what feature you are missing.
Some last notes:
There will be a final Cubase 10 maintenance update as well. The release date is not set yet.
If you are still Windows 7, please be aware that Cubase 10.5 only supports Windows 10 (versions 1809 and 1903) as communicated in summer.
Improving the situation on HiDPI screens on Windows has a high priority at Steinberg. Unfortunately there are no perceivable improvements for the users in 10.5 yet.
