Cubase 12 is coming in 2022

Im looking forward to this new system. Finally without the USB stick. It will be much easier for portable systems.

It will be possible to change your mind about this mid-way through your year’s worth of offline activation, yes. The exact process for this is yet to be decided, but it will be possible.

Thank you very much!

I’m very happy that there won’t be an 11.5. And I would be even happier with an 11.1, 11.2, 11.3 and 11.4 in the meantime.

IMHO this is a bad decision.
People generally stay away from cloud/internet/time based subscriptions. Why is the dongle a problem anyway?
It works great, no problems with it and the protection is strong.

Many will refuse to upgrade because you will not really own the software any more, this is very similar to renting. How is constant verification better than the dongle?
I see a lot of scenarios where things could go wrong.

Las personas generalmente se mantienen alejadas de las suscripciones basadas en la nube / Internet / tiempo

Leaving aside the question of whether this is a subscription or not (for my part I think it is not at all), do you really believe that? It seems like a somewhat light statement. What I see is that more and more companies are implementing a subscription plan, and they are all still alive. It will be because they work, I don’t know. In the forums it seems that everyone hates them (I the first, I walk away from all subscription plans as if I were a Gremlin in the rain), but in the real world, the one outside the forum bubble, it seems that work very well.

I’m on 10.5 will I get 12 if I wait for the summer 40% off sale?

Or will it be cheaper to buy 11 now and get 12 for free?

We cannot reasonably make predictions about what sales promotions we might be offering in 2022 or beyond, sorry.

I just activated the upgrade license from cubase AI to cubase pro, what I get from the eLicenser CC is a Cubase Pro 11 license and when I login to my cubase account on the website I got nothing displayed on My Product page. Is it normal? Will I get instructions on how to free update to Cubase Pro 12 later?

So let me get this straight, if my eLicencer dongle breaks in a year or so, I have to buy the latest version of Cubase?.
RUDE!!!
And 10.5 will not be available as of the moment 12 is released?.
RUDER!!!
Nice one Steinberg. I was going to stick with 10.5 and now I cannot.
RUDEST!!!

Have you used the registration menu item in the ELC? That’s how you get the dongle’s licenses to ‘sync’ with the website.

No. See: Concerns about Steinberg Licensing - #279 by dspreadbury.

Torrent sites will be full of Cubase 12 by the end of 2022.
Getting rid of dongle is the dreams of cracked heads and torrents sites.
Hopefully it doesn’t happen.

Best luck, Steinberg.

Prehistoric Cubase user here.

Used Cubase back in 1997 and in the early 2000s. I upgraded to Cubase 7 in 2012 but didn’t get round to installing or using it. I have an old USB dongle lying around somewhere.

So could I upgrade to Cubase 11 now and get version 12 for free? How do I check that my licence is still valid without having to install Cubase 7?

Install and run the Elicenser Control Center, and plug the dongle in.

You need to register your license at your MySteinberg account. Check the article below:
(You will be able to update your license to C12 freely after the release using the Grace period)

I suppose there are many licenses on dongles that are not registered. The new licensing system depends on that the licenses are registered, so there should be an effort to make people register their licenses before the old license system is shut down.

Finally! Now i can use my projects at home also!
No need worries about dongle!
Thank you!

Thank you I got it registered now it displayed on My Product page. It shows Cubase Pro 11 and Product activated on 11/11/2021. I should suppose to be able to free update to Cubase Pro 12 later right?

Cheers.

It turns out I have 2 dongles. One has Cubase 7 and Wavelab 7 on it so that’s the one I guess would be used to activate Cubase 11? And then when Cubase 12 is released I don’t need it anymore? Or?

The other dongle has Nuendo 2 and Cubase SX 2 on it. Am I allowed to sell/transfer this one?
