if I stop playing the project and add a Pigments instance, then it works fine. Just tested.
It does not crash every time… And Pigments works fine in C12…
Hi,
Could you attach the *.ips/dmp file related to this, please?
Same here. Send the info to Steinberg, when opening Cubase again and the computer asks me if it should send gathered info.
Hi,
That’s great, you did it.
If you want some feedback (to know if the crash comes from Cubase or any 3rd party plug-in), attach the *.ips/dmp file(s) here.
Hi,
Cubase 13.0.20 maintenance update, which includes the fix, has been released. Please, download and install the update.
Thanks Martin.
Thats’s good to here.
I’d decided to go back to C12 until the first maintenance release of C13
I look forward to doing the update and testing later on.
This is happening for me, too. Steinberg: for real–you need to up your quality/testing bar. This version has been killing me. It never stops causing problems from day one.
Hi,
Attach the *.ips/dmp file(s), please.
Still random crashes after update. Still no crash log generated. Still in the dark as to why the random crashes. Windows 11 AMD Ryzen 9 64gig memory.
I can’t: the last dump is from 11/26. Cubase just poof, disappears. Just suddenly everything’s gone without warning. No crash dump files, unless you know of some special path where something relevant is created.
I installed 13.0.20. It took an incredibly long time to scan VST plugins. Now, it’s crashing as soon as I open my project. Poof, gone. No warning.
Hi all,
sorry to hear your Cubase is crashing.
In order to investigate we need more information: either the DMP/IPS and/or a deterministic way to reproduce the crash. Eventually if you think it’s project-related you should consider using weshare to share your project with us. If it’s a big project, try to strip it from any superfluous data before sending it to us. You can obviously PM us if you don’t want the weshare link to be shared with everyone.
Cheers,
Armand
Hi @DrWashington.
As a side comment to your now deleted post where you said " No plugin should be able to crash Cubase in this manner.", I whole-heartedly agree but C12 also manages to crash suddenly with bad VSTs too. I know as I have been learning to develop some and when I get it wrong, C12 also bombs out as the project is opened.
But I’m with you on the pain experienced with C13 being a lot worse.
I’m happy to upload any files that Steinberg believes may help; I’m on Windows 10, just point me to the directories you need. I’ve been sending them whenever it prompts me, but often there’s no prompting and no freeze dump created. It just suddenly disappears.
On Windows you can find all the crash dumped by Steinberg in Documents/Steinberg/CrashDumps
You would need to identify a deterministic way to reproduce the crashes in case no crash log was generated by Cubase. Otherwise we cannot afford stabbing in the dark I’m afraid.
Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
Armand
I don’t get, and haven’t got any cubase generated crash, crash dump files since I installed C12 Or C13. In C11 I got very few.
Other programs have been suggested to me to get crash dump files. I’m a writer/musician not a technician of any kind. So I am stumped on this matter.
The nearest I got was a Windows 11 crash report that just stated Cubase 13 was the issue.
More to the point - Why is cubase not generating a crash dump file?
Cubase 13, as with cubase 12 is just closing down randomly.
Windows 11. AMD Ryzen 9. 64 gig memory.
Similar crashes here. They are fairly random although are often when closing Instrument windows (I’ve mainly been using Komplete Kontrol instruments but with a wide variety of patches). It happens in new projects I’ve made under v13.0.20, and also in older projects. It doesn’t matter how simple or complex the projects.
Here are some .dmp files.
Cubase 13.0.20 64bit2024.1.14 10.22.05.505.dmp (2.4 MB)
Cubase 13.0.20 64bit2024.1.13 17.46.10.838.dmp (2.9 MB)
Thank you. Sadly there isn’t one at the moment, I’m fully up to date. So you think it’s worth my contacting NI to see if their aware of any issues?
Hi,
I would recommend to do this.
