Cubase 13 crashing constantly

The crash I get is about every 5 times I open a project after closing another. I use a separate project for mastering, and close and open the other. I no longer open two projects, as the crash happens when you activate the project. It is like it can’t unload / load something. I assume a VST.

I use GA 5 for getting demos ready, but the crash is just as frequent when I have the acoustics tracks added.

The crash is not a specific VST as it happens in projects with completely different plugins. It has crashed when enabling a disabled track, but I don’t do that often - only when bouncing down a midi track to save on CPU load.

Windows latest, i7 with 32GB ram and plenty of SSD.

I used to get this issue on GA in 12, but an update fixed that. I had this on 13 elements and also after upgrading to 13 artist.

I usually send the crash log to Steinberg when it loads back up. Should I send them here too?

One thing I noticed. Even though the crash happens when I load a new project (after closing one). The recent loaded projects is not saved (must be done on app close) and also there are something not saved in the project that was saved and closed. Things like inactive plugins - this is odd, so it might be a clue to what is going on. It is definitely linked to the unloading. If I remember to just close Cubase fully, the crash is rare.

Hi,

Attach the *.dmp/ips file, please.

Anyone installed the Logitech LOGI app on their PC?

After installing it, it made Cubase 13.0.3 unstable and sluggish., so I uninstalled it, and everything went back to normal.

I hope this helps someone.

Ok, I just did a cycle of open and close, after the second load I get this:
Screenshot 2024-04-22 165021
Cubase 13.0.30 64bit2024.3.27 14.00.48.439.dmp (1.4 MB)
Cubase 13.0.30 64bit2024.3.28 20.14.24.381.dmp (1.3 MB)
Cubase 13.0.30 64bit2024.3.28 20.26.41.292.dmp (1.1 MB)
Cubase 13.0.30 64bit2024.4.14 2.57.21.704.dmp (992.7 KB)

The last 3 are dmp files from previous crashes.

Thanks.

yep… just got used to pressing “ctrl+S” before anything!..

Just for the sake and do a control and download Process Lasso on https://bitsum.com/
And restart the pc And just make like they do on the video and with ProBalance Optimization Algorithm Disable. And enable ProBalance Optimization Algorithm and restart and open cubase and do stuff. And se what process that is loading then it happens agen. Close cubase and remove ALL process ”Disable” them in the Windows, this medan that they dont disturbe the E cores restart and do it agen. For me it was somthing with NI and izotope on E core and some Micro overload on some part of some E core. Its not dangerous to just enable and remove alla prosesss from E core. Its extremlopp beter then disable in bios. Coz Windows need them. Just try and se.

Hi,

Cubase 13.0.40 with the fix has been released.

Thanks I will install it and let you know!

Yes i have media bay. Can you tell me why Halion crashes cubase 13 every single time. I have to now ‘save’ after every single take. So unreliable . Fed up of losing hours creativity due to this. Zero confidence in cubase 13

Hi,

I’m sorry, but without a *.ips/dmp file, I can’t even guess. Please, attach the mentioned file(s).

I was surprised to come back to Cubase that it crashed while I was away from the computer. Now it crashes with Drumagog everytime I try to select a file location to load drum samples. Such a drag that I have to go back to Cubase 11 where everything was stable. Please let me know when Cubase 14 comes out, so that I can use Cubase 13.

Hi,

Please, get in touch with their support.

Hi,

I am running the latest 13.0.41 and every 5th time I load a different project, it crashes. I have uploaded crash files - but I haven’t had a response.

I can mitigate, but closing Cubase completely before switching - but still if I forget - I lose work. This means I can never have projects open and deactivated - a crash in these cases means I lose work.

Cubase 13.0.41 64bit2024.6.30 14.36.42.257.dmp (1.1 MB)

According to the information in the crash dump, the crash was caused by an access violation in WaveShell. So it probably needs to be addressed by Waves.

Hi,

I haven’t found time to have a look into the dmp file yet.

Using the information from @Martin90 , make sure, your Waves plugins are up to date. If you are using iLok with Waves, make sure the driver and the PACE software is up to date.

I was on V14, upgraded to V15 yesterday but it did crash after. I am not using iLok. The dump file does reference a GPF (Access Violation cx5) in Cubase13.exe.

Me too, Cubase 13 pro, v 13.0.41, also crashes every day since I upgraded from v 12. Cubase 12 never crashed like this. So this was a bad deal update…
I tried new AMD gfx drivers, and also the old but Stable pro drivers, but no luck.

(Win 10, i9 Intel PC CPU)

I haven’t been able to use Cubase at all. Just will not run multiple plug ins. Constant shut downs. All plug in manufacturers contacted. All seem to just want to pass the buck. Even Steinberg. It’s always someone else’s fault.

Well, maybe it is. But it ain’t going to get sorted.

Not only that, every update from Steinberg has made it worse. On top of that all Windows updates have made things worse.

I’ve now had to give up after over 14 months of Cubase constantly just closing.

Can’t send in dump files. They’re not being generated. And procdump just shows up the 1st vst file when Cubase closes. Different plug in every time.

Nowhere to go.

Hi,

Please provide information when is Cubase crashing and attach the *.dmp file.

Hi,

In this case, I would recommend clean Windows installation.
