Cubase 14 available now

The Info line is the solution.

Depends what you mean by won’t work. Any update they buy will llow use of C13…the assumption is if that’s specifically what they ask for they are hoping for a cheaper option than the 14 update. So if they find a 13 update being sold cheaper by a third party seller then I’d say that ā€œworkedā€.

But I have no idea how the third party updates work nowadays, when it used to be a boxed product there were always deals to be had on the old stock, even though it still gave you grace period update but if it’s just a download code then that probably doesn’t happen now.

I have the course by Guy Michelmore, the ā€œmain guyā€ at ThinkSpace. It is awesome. Guy has such an inspiring energy that this course has even an entertainment value as well. I like it that much that I also bought music theory course by him :).

Also there is a course on Udemy called Complete Cubase Mastery by Milan Milosavljevic which currently covers C13. But, there is a promise of updates (last was in July 2024), so I’m expecting that the new stuff in C14 will be added to that course soon.

If you have to gainstage multiple takes in a row, the Info line solution is not convenient, since you have to click the event, go to the info line, click, then select the next event, click again the info line and so on. In any case, thanks for your help

This new update ticks many boxes for my workflow, so I can’t complain.

If you enable the preference Editing > Audio > Use Mouse Wheel for Event Volume and Fades you can use the mouse wheel to change the Event Volume in steps of 1dB. (Holding Shift while scrolling sets the Event Fade In in steps according to the Quantize value.)
Another approach would be to use the Lanes. This would of course require that the overlapping Events are on separate lanes.

Edit:
You could also try the preference Event Display > Show Overlaps = Never.

Another workaround is to temporarily switch the foreground event by clicking the down arrow located bottom center of the event.

Hey, using the mouse wheel is a great tip, wasn’t aware of that! This is a much better way than the one I was used to. Thanks a lot

Also thanks for the other workarounds you mentioned. Yeah, temporarily switching the foreground event may come in handy. In any case, I feel embarrased I didn’t know that mouse wheel tip, haha.

No sweat! I didn’t know about either until I started poking around in the Preference 15 minutes ago. (I think it might be a new feature for v14…?)

I’ve just checked C13 and it was there too. What I was doing all these years… lol

ā€œI had no idea Cubase can do thisā€ is probably an often used sentence.

Hi there,

Are the bugs already identified for Cubase 14 listed somewhere?

To my knowledge, there has never been a publicly available list of all issues for any version of Cubendo.

Actually, Cubase used to publish a bug list and revise it when updates addressed specific items. I think it was called ā€œIssuesā€.

Very sad when they stopped publishing that - knowing that a problem was actually due to a bug prevented a lot of futile troubleshooting attempts.

Welcome to the Forum

No idea where I said that, but yes, SpectraLayers is part of the Cubase license. The software is the full package, just the included license limits it to SpectraLayers One.

Currently release 10.0.50 is included in CB13 and 11.0.40 in CB14.

I feel like these Cubase updates come around the same time every year. That’s why I think it’s important to maybe purchase it within whatever window they set. Buying Cubase in September is super risky!

The lack of global modulators was a missed trick in my opinion.

It would be a nice addition, allowing us to modulate plugins across multiple tracks with the one modulator.

I don’t think that entering download code is the same as activation, I never though that and it was not told anywhere.

Thank you~ ^^ @ Matthias_Quellmann

It’s just my interpretation of it, and makes sense because at the point of entering the download code you are then getting the product in exchange.

Maybe someone else can confirm.

Thanks for getting back to me .
Since your first message, and after seeing other people getting updates from earlier versions, I double checked, but this time in a Safari browser.
And the other option(s) was indeed visible.
I did an update , and then some cache and cookie cleaning in Chrome … and then it worked…
So the problem is all mine .

I’m sorry about my erroneous communication - I seem to have grown an allergie to subscription models , that’s the only way to explain it !
You can delete my forum post , or -if possible- I can edit it , whatever you prefer.

BTW : I am so glad Steinberg still is ā€œwith the good guysā€
(my very first ā€œdawā€ experience - a friend had a ā€˜bit’ more money then me - was Cubase on Atari ST …)
