Sorry Steinberg but it’s 14.5 version, not 15 honestly. Just IMHO of course but nothing exciting at all. Version 14 was amazing btw…
Just curious if someone has been checking things out for a while: what does 15 bring to the table in terms of audio (these days I’m focused mostly on recording, editing and mixing classical, jazz and folk – real players)? I always update right away, but curious if I should. I already have the full version of spectralayers, BTW. The new pitch shifter seems handy because in Europe, a lot of instruments are A = 442 or sometimes 443 (mallet instruments, melodica, etc), and we’re generally recording at A = 440. So what other things on the strictly audio side (real players) has been improved? I’ve watched all the videos I can find, and read the release note. Thanks!
Hi there, congratulations on the release. Is there a change log with bug fixes from v14? I don’t see much in that regard in the release notes page. Particularly interested if there have been changes to VCA problems, ARA, and realtime audio warp glitches, and side chain paths becoming disconnected.
After some testing, the limitations are more of less the same as v14, so I’m a bit puzzled why Steinberg felt the need to make a whole new comparison chart and replace the exact amount of audio/instrument/midi/fx and the like you can have for each version with “limited” and “unlimited.”
I have a similar question as @Emrah_Alpat and @felipeayres:
I bought the Cubase 14 (Artist) update on Sept. 30th, 2025 and activated it the first time on Oct. 31st. Would I get a license to Cubase 15 ? How do I see if it is possible ? Whom can I contact and ask, since it seems that sending support messages is disabled ?
Steinberg should leave us “recent updaters / buyers” not alone ! Otherwise I would feel a quite tricked
(with their Late-September Deal)
The same to me ! ![]()
Yearly upgrades is cringe. (Subscriptions are worse) Like an iPhone that has a new number but almost no extra value. Lowers the value imo. Feels wrong. I don’t want a new number version. Cash grab vibes.
And I needed help the other day and contacted customer service. Wow, truly sad. The lack of care and support was actually disturbing and gross. I contacted Waves for an issue and got amazing tech support.
You can save like +/- £/$13 .. a month to upgrade each year.
Its not like you’re purchasing a £/$1,000+ iPhone each year
& no one is telling you to upgrade ![]()
Hi @felipeayres, could you please post the link to the helpcenter article (it is just an image that you posted) ? Thanks / grazia / gracias ![]()
That’s in the FAQs: FAQ - Cubase | Steinberg
Hi @marcus_torrus, I have just checked your account. Your Cubase Artist 14 license was already activated on September 30th, 2025. That is before the grace period and you are not eligible for the free update.
Thanks @Matthias_Quellmann, that is really unfortunate, since I might have activated briefly on one system to see, if everything is working, deactivated it again and started really working with it on Oct. 31st on our Mac. So you don’t see any room for ‘goodwill’ there ? (Such border cases Steinberg should treat with some generosity ![]()
Congratulations to the team on the new release!
Does the Elements version of Cubase 15 feature the new pattern sequencer?
Hello @Matthias_Quellmann,
Thank you very much for the team’s hard work on bringing Cubase 15 up to all of us.
The DAW really gets modern with every release.
I would like to suggest 3 main ideas about the future destination of Cubase/Nuendo and Steinberg in general. I would like to invite @dspreadbury to see this comment.
-
Would be nice to see a centralization of the Audio Editing in Cubase/Nuendo
- Something like Pro Tools’ - BeatDetective tool is a “must to have” in every modern DAW
- BeatDetective makes the audio quantization and editing much faster than it is in Cubase/Nuendo currently.
-
This one is inspired by UAD Luna and their “Analogue” approach.
- It’s nice that Cubase/Nuendo become more and more powerful towards sound design and electronic music, but still the Analogue Sound trend is growing.
- Harrison Mixbus and Cakewalk are another DAWs which following the “Analogue” trend..
-
Something Affinity 3 (by Canva) inspired.
- Would be great if we could have “All in One” (Cubase, Nuendo, Dorico, WaveLab and SpectraLayers) within a single, multi-module, application.
- The availability of the modules will depend on the purchased licenses
- Would be great if one doesn’t need to leave the app, or to launch another one, in order to accomplish all the needed tasks.
- It will be more comfortable for those who uses instrument host like Vienna Ensemble Pro. It would be hard to connect two apps to VEP e.g. Dorico + Cubase.
- Apps like Divisimate could be easily used for notation, due to it’s connection with Cubase/Nuendo. Currently it’s impossible to use it with Dorico.
- Working with multiple applications isn’t a good idea and takes time jumping from one another.
Best regards,
Thurisaz
N.B: Here is the separate thread on the idea I have shared in this comment (We could open a wide discussion about those ideas):
No, you need to step up to at least the Artist version.
(All features in the “New in 15” section are tagged with the versions included.)
Thank you for your feedback. Could you please create a separate thread for this?
hi Marcus, here is the link. https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/115001891190-How-to-verify-eligibility-for-free-Grace-Period-update
But now they already fixed the typos.
I’d have to say nothing! This is the least excited I’ve ever been about a Cubase release. I’m still on 12, mostly due to the GUI that looks so much better in that version - way less cluttered and easy on the eyes. Only 1 or 2 small things in each of the subsequent versions. I’m with you. I appreciate “real” music and musicians and for that Cubase 12 is all I need. Would like to give Steinberg more of my money someday, but not stoked about all this AI and electronic music additions they seem to focus on now.
Upgraded - got to say hat’s off to the dev team - crisper UI, snappier feel, processing over all my cores - zero problems opening current project - Happy Days.
It’s always the same with Cubase. At some point, you get the chance to upgrade to the latest version at a discount, and then a month later a new version comes out that you have to pay for again. I’m done with it.
